I had my ablation for afib and SVT exactly 2 years ago. Since then I had a couple days where I da a few skipped beats. However the last 3 days I would have skipped beats for 3 hours each day. Sometimes it would be every 2nd or 3rd beat. Is this normal? Someone please help and share. I am so scared that my pathways are reconnecting.....
Please help: I had my ablation for afib... - Atrial Fibrillati...
Please help
Sounds rather like ectopic beats but you would need an ECG to confirm. Do you have a Kardia?
It it is ectopics they can be troublesome when they are frequent but they are considered benign and very common after ablation. Slow breathing exercises and anxiety management may help - Search for threads ‘ectopics’ and look out for the Dr Sanjay Gupta videos which explain what they are and why they happen etc.
I had my ablation 2 years ago though. Isn’t it weird that I still have frequent EC topics every 3-4 months?
Maybe weird but not unusual.
I have given up trying to put reason to my heart arrythmias but focus on reducing my anxiety about them - that in itself helps reduce the intensity and the frequency. I do, however, correlate when they occur - so for instance I noticed that I need to stay in rest & digest mode after I have eaten for at least 39 mins. This suggested vagal response so I then worked with improving vagal tone.
Could be ectopic beats. Ask gp for an ecg to confirm though. Lots of threads on the forum about ectopics. Nasty little monkeys to experience. Always get checked out though as we are not medically trained here just people with arrhythmias. Best wishes.
It happens they can come out of nowhere visit us for a while and then bobby off again. Strange old things that they are, not funny though, very unwelcome visitors.
Yea it’s very frustrating.....have you ever had them for hours?
Absolutely. Had them for days and weeks at a time then they disappear just as quickly a they arrived. Very distressing I hate them.
Ectopics are horrible, unpredictable pests and seem to plague most of us, whether we’ve had ablations or not.
It would be useful if you can arrange for an ECG once they have started - that way your physician can diagnose immediately.
If these are ectopics, then every second or third beat is one of the patterns they perform. As CD says, deep, slow diaphragm breathing may help and sometimes also looking at your diet to work out if a particular food is helping to trigger them.
