Has anyone been taking meds for AF awaiting cardioversion etc and their heart had returned back to normal rythmn before planned procedure took place? (Persistant AF 6 weeks from diagnosis)
Thanks

not personally, but read posts about it.....kinda mixed blessing I guess
not uncommon and saves a hospital appointment and associated risks.
Yes, once, 5 minutes before procedure.
After my first cardioversion failed in the first year I booked in for a second cardioversion but went into NSR a week after , my GP ( canny fellow - Scot. ) said dont cancell the appointment as you may go out of NSR before its due in 2 months. He was spot on.
Yep - 3 days after being diagnosed I underwent a Cardioversion which only kept me in NSR for a couple of days. Cardiologist put me on Amiodorone and scheduled a second Cardioversion 6 weeks later. After a few weeks on Amiodorone I reverted to NSR and 2 years later I still haven't had that second Cardioversion. Happy to say also that I am off that nasty Amiodorone, my anti-arrhythmic now is Flecanaide.
Yes, one time just as they were going to sedate me to do the procedure and then another time it disappeared a few weeks before I was due a cardioversion.
Actually I've just thought of another time too, they were once going to perform one in A&E (without any sedation). I guess the shock of being told that set my heart back in rhythm pretty quick, so it wasn't necessary. I've escaped three but have had many others.
Are you waiting to have a cardioversion?
