Hybrid ablation

Hello I am new.After two ablations I am being considered fo a hybrid ablation procedure, and I wondered if anyone has had this procedure. If so please tell me how it was and if it was successful. Thank you very much. Terry

I had one. The first part was done two years ago next week and the second took place in December six weeks later. If you do decide to go ahead be prepared to feel really rough for about two weeks after the first procedure, the catheter ablation was no problem. I think it took about six months to feel completely "normal" I came off flecanide in July 2016 and so far so good. I was really nervous about having it done but have been in NSR since day one. My next appointment is in a couple of weeks and I am hoping that is it apart from seeing the arrhythmia nurse in January.

Hello I’m wondering how things are going with you now? I’m due to have a chat with the ep next week about the hybrid procedure and need a bit of encouragement. Wouldn’t say I’m the bravest but needs must. Terry

Everything appears to be fine, as far as I am aware my heart has been in rhythm since the ablation ( over 2 years ). I should have seen the arrhythmia nurse in January but I had to cancel it so am going next week. Hopefully this is my last appointment as the consultant who did the first part signed me off in November.

I came off Flecanide in July 2016 and Adizem about a year ago but am still on Warfarin. This is more of a personal choice due to this forum. I am wondering what will be said about it next week.

I wasn't offered a catheter ablation until about 5 years after diagnosis by which time I felt that my heart was out of rhythm more often than in. It was then decided that I was an ideal candidate for the hybrid ablation which I had a few weeks later. I did try to say no, but am glad that I went ahead. I felt quite rough for a couple of weeks but so do some people who have a catheter ablation. The first part was under GA and the second, sedation ( I was asleep) so didn't feel a thing.

So far so good for me. Hopefully this helps
