Not long back from having a TOE at the Golden Jubilee in Glasgow in preparation for my ablation in two weeks. Just to reassure anyone else who will be having this procedure it was no problem, consultant asked if I wanted sedated I opted not to as I wanted home quickly.....unpleasant but was over quickly.... next the ablation, fingers crossed.

Well done. Unfortunately some of us cannot tollerate the unpleasantness you describe. I had an endoscopy with just the throat numbing which had to be stopped as I could not cope and had a major panic attack - so embarrassing! I am about to have another and I intend to have every kind of sedation on offer! Good luck with your ablation - remember how important it is to rest.
Hi having had lots of TOE's the point is to see if a clot has formed and if so the ablation can not go ahead and could form in the 2 weeks before ablation...mine have been done at the same time as the ablation and as you said its not too bad of an examination
Oh I really hope a clot doesn't form in the next two weeks I am on apixaban so hopefully that will help reduce the risk of one forming. Thanks
