A/F &COPD

hi new on here ..i have a pacemaker fitted about 6years ago as my heart was stopping and put on warfrin & vapermil...on my yearly pacemaker check up it was found my heart rate was racing up to 200 beats /min and was referred to a cardiac nurse who is recommending my vapermil be doubled to 250 but was writing to my GP to prescribe this.and sent home with nothing ...as i have to wait for an appointment .which will be on 24th sept .....i am a bit concerned that i was not given a more thorough examination and treatment and still have the fast heart rate.....i feel i should be more regularly monitored as a matter of course instead of once a year pacemaker was checked 2 months ago and saw cardiac nurse 14/8/17 ....i am considering asking to see a specialist to make sure nothing else is wrong what do other readers think?..i also have frequent chest infections and put on steriods and antibiotics for my COPD

THANKS BERTIE

Hello Bertie and welcome to the forum. Sadly, we often hear that some patients do not seem to get the care and attention they feel they need and you would seem to fit in that category. You clearly have a few issues which are likely to be interlinked so I think it would be a great idea if you could see a specialist with an understanding of those issues and hopefully, your GP can steer you in the right direction.....you may have to thump the table a bit to get what you want, but methinks you are capable of doing just that.....best of luck, and please let us know how you get on

Sometimes you feel when you reach a certain age. They don't want to know I'm 74. It's easier and cheaper to give you a tablet and send you home These days. But I'm going. To ask some questions to see a consultant About any other underlying problem. Heart rate at 220. Is high

Tried to see specialist. But unsuccessful Dr said things would be picked up when having an ecg. But that's only once a year !!! For my pacemaker and she said warfarin would stop a stroke She said if feeling faint call an ambulance But my dizzy spells only last a minute or so. Felt just fobed off with tablets. I really wanted assurance that there was no underlying reason But no Think now when your over 70. It's hard luck
