I'm still AF free after having an infected root filled tooth removed. That's 14 weeks with no AF, when before I couldn't go longer than 4 to six weeks without an attack and that's how I'd been for almost 10 years.
I've just been sent this link re the connection between teeth and health, fascinating stuff once you get past the introduction. Click on the Dental one,
No, I'm sure those metal posts implanted into the jaw aren't good for us, nor the plastic like stuff dentures are made from! I guess nature intended us to have gaps in our teeth. Isn't it odd, when you think about it, how we would judge someone who walked around with front teeth missing.
Metal pins reinforcing wobbly teeth are just sitting in a root. Implants post are titanium, which is integrated into the bone. They actually become a part of the jaw bone. That may be one significant difference and an advantage. My understanding is that about 30% of adults suffer (mostly asymptomatic) form of gum infection, related to teeth, often to the metal posts which may act as a bacteria conduit. I too am having old root fillings removed, the same reason.
Hi Jean, you are really on it, that is one of the best manageable talks I have heard on dental health. Much appreciated.
Great news about your own health - I think we all individually have to go down the right roads just as far as we need to and probably no further, if that makes sense.
So pleased for you - you are always so positive even when things were looking bad so it is great you have had this good break - and it must make us all wonder what nasty infection is lurking somewhere in our body causing the AF - I will certainly ask my dentist to be extra vigilant!
Great news Jean! Most people don't realise how important dental health and hygiene is to their overall wellbeing, and hearts in particular. It is really significant so it's good to spread the word.
Great news Jean, long may it continue. I am very suspicious about a tooth of mine. I am sure the infection put me back into AF and having had the tooth seen to (root canal) I am still not sure it is sorted, I wish he had just taken it out but he was loathe to do it as my heart rate was so high. I am sure he will have to take it out eventually. Best wishes.
Not great Jean, thanks for asking, still in AF/Tachycardia but struggling on as I have no option at the moment. I have good and bad days but thank God for my lovely family that keep my head above water. Looking forward to a couple of days at a Spa with my Grandaughter this weekend so trying to not let it beat me. Hope you keep going on the straight and narrow Jean. Best wishes.
Excellent news, and encouraging for me. The link between gum bacteria and heart health is well proven and as such I plucked up the courage to visit dentist for severe gum disease . After a deep clean , and pockets in the root of one tooth cleaned I both feel better and hope I get as good an outcome as you.
Nothing to do with AF, but my wife suffered occasional migranes for 40 years until her dentist commented that a wisdom tooth seemed to be trying to break through at last. He removed it and hey presto no migranes since !!
