Can thyroid disease cause atrial fibrillation?

You don't say which thyroid problem you have. however, Levothyroxine gives me AF. I have been off it for 10 months and no AF. Before I was at A&E 2-3 times a month for years

Did you click the link and read the article? Both too much and too little cause AF.

Several persons in my family had AF when hypo. So I would not recommend going off Levothyroxine if you need it.

Why did you take it?

Had 7/8 ths removed 1975,now senior citizen doc told me after a blood test I needed it

Maybe you took too much or too little? Tweaking the dose is very important.

I took 25mg, as doc says. Don't think they do 10mg. Many thanks for your interest,blood tests every 3 months,when I run out of thyroxine myself,think there will be a problem.
