Constant afib
Auntiejo the advice I had post ablation, from my arrhythmia nurse, was to go to A&E if a fib continues for more than 24hrs. I also had what I thought was constant a fib and went to A&E and then on the advice of an A&E doctor phoned my consultants secretary on the Monday morning and got an appointment for his clinic the next day. ECG showed not a fib but tachycardia which I still have now 19 days post ablation.
Do you have access to an arrhythmia nurse for advice? If not suggest you go to A&E.
Hope all goes well.

4 days is not very long! Give it some time. An ablation is not considered a success or failure until after about 2 months. The heart has to heal. That being said, follow your post procedure instructions. Contact your doctor if you show any of the 'warning signs' to watch for.
I suspect it is more likely to be atrial tachycardia which is quite common post ablation and depending on the rate may need to be cardioverted. Speak to the arrhythmia nurse where you had the procedure.
I had an ablation on 24th April. After 10 days I went into Afib and have been there since (21 days now). My EP is of course aware of this and I am back in hospital next week for a DC Cardioversion. Hopefully it will then remain in NSR.
It is very early days in your recovery and my EP tells me what you are experiencing is very common post ablation.
As your heart begins to scar over the Afib may just suddenly stop. They won't know if the operation is a success or not for at least 3 months so give it time.
Good luck.
Good advice from everyone. Also, they usually keep you on all meds until the "3 month, your heart has healed" evaluation appointment.
Thanks everyone for your advice.I did phone the catheter lab yesterday morning and they told me to go straight to the hospital which I did and they hooked me up and said that I had both atrial flutter and fibrillation and that I should have gone to the ER sooner as my cardiac enzymes were elevated because of the strain on my heart. They did do a conversion and I have been in normal sinus rhythm since. Auntiejo
Don't wait three months to beevaluated for an unforeseen problem that may have developed. Make an appt asap and be evaluated. Something may be going on that need evaluation now. Three month appt times are just an arbitrary number. Doesn't take in the fact that an unforeseen problem may have developed. I have a friend who says "Don't take better care of your car than your body." Would you wait for the routine 6 month tuneup if your car was leaking oil sooner? Don't mean to be so adamant but better safe than sorry. irina1975
