Hi guys, started using apixaban 5mg yesterday and today ive had some serious thumping in my chest, anybody had experience in this?
Ive been prescribed this as i have an ablation on the 30th of march and need to take it 3 weeks earlier.
Thanks,
I've been on apixaban 5mg twice daily for about 3 weeks, I have not noticed any change to my symptoms, I have chest pains with my af attacks anyway .
I cannot imagine any reason why Apixaban would trigger any palpitations, I have used it since last September and not experienced side effects.
Hello - I've been taking Apixaban for over 3 years but it has never caused any palpitations. With me, an upset stomach/gut gives me the symptoms you describe.
I've been taking apixaban for a couple of months now but have not experienced any symptoms such as you describe, nor any other noticeable side effects.
Could it perhaps be anxiety about your forthcoming procedure that has triggered the symptoms you mention?
Yeah i think it might be that. I am absolutely terrified and keep having night terrors just need to man up I guess ha
I know "manning up" is easier said than done AFib-ollie but perhaps if you read some of the many messages here about the procedure it might help? Lots of people have posted good ideas to help manage anxiety too. Have you seen any of those?
Chin up!
I agree with all the other comments.....I've been taking Apixaban for almost a year with no problems.....I'm sure your symptoms/side effects are unrelated to Apixaban......good luck
Been on it for a year and no problems of any kind to report.
No problems at all with apixaban hope your ablation goes well
I had problems with apixaban at first such that I was considering going back on warfarin, but they settled down and I am now fine with it. Wait a little longer before worrying
Hi I have been on Apixaban for 4 months while I had Ablation. Has given me really bad acid reflux and abdominal pain cannot wait to stop taking.
I changed to Apixaban about 2 months. No problems. It has.the least side-effects of any of the Anticoagulants. Should not have any influence on pals.
But we are all different!!!

I have been on Apixaban 5mg for approx 1 1/2 years having changed from Warfarin because my hair was falling out. It seems to be fine and I have been told I have to be on blood thinners for life, post ablation, to help to prevent stroke. Hair continued to fall out a bit but have now found a shampoo which has stopped that.
