Hello Fastbeat, I had mine done at the Heart Institute at the BRI in 2008 by Tim Cripps. I had PAF which had become very troublesome and happened most weeks. Op went well and allowed me to get back to enjoying my life. I had no real problems after but just take it easy for a couple of weeks to let your heart heal, just because you cannot see a scar it doesn't mean there isn't one.

I have had two ablations done at the Bristol heart institute and the facilities there are fantastic as is the staff . My procedures were carried out by Dr Duncan and all went very smoothly and painlessly, also the Arrythmia nurses are really helpful and knowledgeable. Unfortunately my AF returned but if I have to have an AV node ablation the least of my concerns is the actual procedure only the outcome and no one can predict that precisely.

Don't worry your in safe hands

I had my ablation done in 2015 under the supervision of DR Duncan. Didn't fix my AF completely but good improvement. Was well looked after throughout.

You might already be aware that the BRI/BHI are now in the outstanding category after inspection in Nov 2016.

Have you been given a date yet Fastbeat? I've been referred to the BHI by my cardiologist with a view to a possible ablation so was just wondering how long you had to wait for first appointment and then how long for ablation. I've had previous experience of the BHI and found it to be excellent. Hope you've got or get a date soon.

Had first visit after seeing my Bath cardiologist a couple of months later. Put on waiting list January 12th this year still waiting at the moment no idea how long list is.Was told when seen it would be a couple of months ,obviously their couple of months and mine are two different things ,but not stressing it will come sometime just have to be patient.

Thanks Jane, hopefully it won't be too long for you now, but think you are right about their timings being different to ours! My referral was only sent two weeks ago so I probably won't hear anything about an appointment for another three or fours weeks if I'm lucky! Will let you know when I get it! Hope your date comes through soon, let me know .

Good luck tomorrow Jane, it's good that you're Cardiologist is still making sure you're ok. Mine at Southmead seems to have washed his hands of me now he has referred me, but to be honest I don't have much confidence in him anyway he's not been great and has only referred me as my GP contacted him, my next appointment with him is not til October, even though I was supposed to see him 8 weeks after a cardioversion in January!

Hope you're date comes through soon, will let you know how I get on.

Good consultation today.Medication changed to lower doze of bisoprolol and a new med added to hopefully get better control of high BP.He will follow me up in 4 months when he hopes I will have had ablation done ,so good day all round, followed by nice pub lunch in the country.

Sounds good all round, especially the lower dose of Bisoprolol, I'm only on 1.25mg as 2.5mg lowered my resting heartbeat too much. Pub lunch sounds excellent. Keep well, will keep in touch. Fingers crossed for a date for you soon.
