I am confused because my platelets are high which I understand is likely to cause blot clots and I an on Eliquis which I thought prevented blood clots. It seems to me this is a contridiction. Can someone explain this or should I ask my EP to stop Eliquis?
Thank you.

Platelets and clotting are two different things I think. This is why aspirin which is an anti platelet is not an anti-coagaulant and is useless for stroke prevention in AF. I would suggest that you did discuss this if you are worried but please do not stop anything right now.
Eliquis doesn't cause raised platelets but may decrease them rarely. Platelets clump together to plug an injured vessel, but eliquis works on the coagulation system of proteins in the blood.
If you have af and a raised platelet count I would think you certainly need to be on an anticoagulant and depending on how high your platelets are, maybe other medication as well.
Eliquis will prevent the formation of blood clots, regardless of the number of platelets you have. They just won’t stick together.
