I am due to have a month long continuous monitor fitted on 6th January. I was wondering whether anyone here has ever had a month heart monitor and what the process was when you had to shower. Does the monitor itself come off for those kind of situations or can you shower with the monitor on?
Thanks,

The one I had for two weeks you merely unclipped the leads from the pads . They had press stud type connectors. They are colour coded and you should be told the order. I had four , red yellow, green and black and they went clockwise with the mnemonic "ride your granny's bike". Of course that was a while ago so maybe different now but the principle should be the same. . I was also given a supply of spare pads should the originals fall off. No baths of course but a quick shower is OK.
I also had a diary to keep and press a button if I had symptoms but again things may be different .
Yes I had similar. Just unclip it for showering. I was given some spare pads to use if needed
I had one and showering was no problem. Just unhook and change the pads every other day. My main problem was keeping up with the unit. It was a bit bulky for my pocket and if I took it out and put it down, I inevitably walked to far away from it. It turned out to be very useful and it picked up quite a few episodes of various arrhythmia.
I had one back in the summer and it was very small with just a couple of leads. It clipped to a pad on my chest and then there were, I think it was one or two other leads. You took the whole lot off to shower each day and then fixed on new pads and put it back on. The new smaller ones are so much better than the bigger older ones you had to hang around your neck.
Hi I had a week long monitor. It wasn't too bad really. The wires are attached with sticky pads. The nurse gave me some additional sticky pads to use when I had a shower, so I could remove the monitor as long as the shower was quick, and put it back on afterwards. I also had to jot down the day and time I did remove the monitor. The only slight problem I had was that the skin under the pads got a bit sore and itchy after a few days, but I was able to put up with that for a week. If I were having it for a month I'd have had to put the pad in a new position, so I'd ask about that if I were you. Hope that helps.
