Ablation or 'Convergent' procedure for AF, 'Hybrid'.

After seeing the ep last week at Bournemouth ( re my last post) and being given the choice of two procedures, I have watched , read as much as possible about both procedures and decided on the ablation at Bournemouth, not hybrid at St Thomas's in London. My reasoning (to myself) is that ablations have been carried out for many years ( and mapping has improved) , there is only 10% more chance of it holding, there has got to be more risks as double the surgery is involved , albeit through a tube fed through the chest under rib cage, and finally I'm not brave enough. The procedure seems to have been carried out in America more than here . Now to get the ball rolling !!

Clearly you have gone into the two options in great detail, so go with your gut instinct. Bravery doesn't really come into it, it's what you feel comfortable with so yep, get the ball rolling and keep us informed of progress.....all the best Roony.
