Welcome and don't be shy. Ask anything and we will try to help. Give us a bit of back story as well if you would.

I was wondering what is a safe statin to take with the drug Amiodorone.

I am taking Amiodorone and need to take a statin I have afib and very high cholesterol readings I have the heredity kind not because of my diet.

Sorry but we can't advise on drugs as we are not medically trained. Why not discuss with your pharmacist as they are really in the know? I'm surprised your doctor has not given you such information.

I would insist on being referred to a lipid consultant because this needs careful consideration by someone specialising (there can't be too many people out there who have both these days) and it needs careful monitoring as both can adversely affect liver function.

I took simavastatin and in less than 5 months adversely affected liver function by 4 times the max allowed. The EP wouldn't start me on amioderone in run up to ablation because of that.

thank you for responding I do have a Dr actually two one is a cardiologist one a internist the internist ordered the statin my pharmacist said he didnt think a statin was good to take with the other drug amioderone . Just wondered if anyone was on both at the same time and what the statin was . I do know this is not for medical advise. Just thought I would ask.

Welcome to our forum. Yes, the support on this site is certainly second to none. Ask any questions, no matter if you think them minor.
