Flecainide

Morning all, just asking, from everyone on flecainide, is it ok to take an extra table when AF is lurking on and off. Been great for a few months but stressed lately with this and that. Would appreciate any comments or should I contact the consultants department at Liverpool. Pat

Hi,

If I remember rightly you can take up to 250mg per day. I used to take 100mg at breakfast

and could take the remaining at intervals depending on what was happening with my AF.

I would speak with the consultant's secretary if possible or your arrhythmia nurse if you have one? mine was invaluable with questions like this.

Max dose is 300mg in any 24 hours.

Yes, I agree with Bob, I was told 300mg in any 24hr period. However I think you should really get some medical advice. My 300mg over the day was tried out in hospital first. How much Flecainide are you taking at the moment?

I take 100mg flecinide twice a day ,on few occasions I have taken an extra 100mg on the advice of my cardiologist and had no problems , unlike you, I don't suffer from stomach upset or headaches ,you should contact your cardiologist.

Please seek professional advice from your consultant. The "I take" and the amateur interpretation of pharmacological complex matters is downright dangerous. Sorry but this forum can't provide such recommendations.
