Feeling so disappointed.

After nearly five weeks AF free since my second ablation, I have just gone into an episode this afternoon. Think my scars may have healed too well! I'm really feeling down.

Try not to be too downhearted Judie.....still early days. Everyone says that "stuff" can happen and that it takes at least 3 months for the heart to settle down.....John

This will feel disappointing but may just be a one-off wobble, as John says. Don't let it drag you down.

Sorry to hear that but you have loads of the 'blanking' period left so can't tell about success yet.

There are quite a few on this forum and who no longer visit who have had bursts of AF during the blanking period. Very early days as it can take 3 to 6 months. Keep your chin up!!!

Far far too early to make that judgement Julie. Ask again in another three months. This is to be expected as I am sure they will have told you. It takes that long for the scars to form.

I didn't feel my heart at all for 6 weeks post-ablation then I had a run of 5 or 6 mild episodes. I still have the occasional episode which can be stopped with 100 flecainide. I think that you will be better able to make an assessment in about 6 months time.

Very best wishes

Thanks for all your replies and reassurance. I'm so grateful for this site and all the lovely people on it. It really helps just knowing others understand how you feel. I know I have to give things a good while yet before I worry about it not having worked. Just feel a bit deflated. Still in AF so hope it reverts soon.

I know that this is much easier said than done but there is only one outcome from worrying - making things worse!!! Unfortunately all that you can do is to let Mother Nature take its course!!! You may be lucky and end up with being in NSR at the end of the blanking period. You may be unlucky and end up still with AF. Only time will tell.
