Did others see Sanjay's post on ectopicd and anxiety? Any views? I like Sanjay's helpful videos and communication and interest in AF but I don't agree to the strong link he is making with Ectopics snd anxiety. I'm a Psychotherspist who has Ectopics and has had AF. Does anyone have Sanjay's email by chance.
Thank you

Yes, most helpful videos - especially the ones on ectopics. I think there is a link between my ectopics and anxiety about them but it is a specific link - once I feel them start I get anxious and start the viscious circle of worry and effect.
I had an ablation December last year and also had ectopics the last couple of months I've been on antidepressants and reading your post rang the bell. My ectopics, although not stopped, have most definitely decreased in amount. However, my EP has said that nothing can be done for them.
I have definitely started with ectopics which have developed into af during periods of anxiety, but this is not always the case. I would estimate that this occurs in about 10% of all my af episodes.
I am absolutely convinced that my ectopics, (especially the ones that go on for days on end ) are anxiety generated, I have no doubt about this ,however this my not be true for everyone. Also the breathing exercises have been hugely helpful. I agree that the ectopics cause even more anxiety and thus becomes a vicious circle. I found the breathing helped break the circle. When I talk about anxietyI have been diagnosed with Generalised Anxiety Disorder and have had CBT. Best wishes Kath
Didn't see the post re ectopics and anxiety but I can report from my experience: in all the ECGs and 24 hour monitoring I have had over 15 years with intermittent AF - I never had any ectopics until the ECG taken immediately before the anaesthetic for the ablation! QED perhaps? Also have had plenty of ECGs since and no sign of any !!
ELAINE I agree with you. My view it is more to do with autonomic dysfunction - which feels like anxiety but is not cognitively driven. I have been researching this for some time.
Interestingly I am currently taking HBOT treatment and about to write a report for my EP and what I have found is that I have not had 1 episode of tachycardia or series of ectopics, still have the odd one as does everyone, since starting. There is good science behind why Oxygen helps, especially with people with autonomic disorders and autoimmune diseases as well as promoting healing generally.
