I have noticed that my pulse is lower than 6 months ago. It used to be @ 56 and now has come down to 52 bpm. I was told by my cardiologist to take betablockers everyday but I am hesitant because of my low pulse... I also have PAF....Anybody has experienced this?
Low pulse: I have noticed that my pulse... - Atrial Fibrillati...
Low pulse
I have PAF and take Bisoprolol 5mg daily. 3 Months ago my 'resting' pulse was around 60. I have now changed my diet and have lost 2 stone in weight and my rate is now about 52 (in fact it goes down to 45- 49 or so when sleeping). I was concerned and went to see my cardiologist - he said that unless I was feeling dizzy or passing out that it was fine.
I notice that my exercising heart rate is more limited with Bisoprolol but that my resting rate only changed due to my diet and weight loss. I would try the betablockers for a while as prescribed and see how you feel, but if you are not sure then at least see your GP or cardiologist again.
Hi, I started in Bisoprolol approximately 5 years ago, 2.5mg, after about
2/3 months was walking around zombie-like and felt really bad, didnt do
or say anything because I assumed it was my af. The result was I passed
out, in town, but luckily I was in a shop where I was known and she kindly
took me home when I came round, Went to see my GP who after an ECG
informed me my heartrate was 38' and she would inform my cardiologist.
This wasnt good enough for my husband who decided when we returned
home to ring my cardio himself, the result was to stop Bisop immediately
and made an appointment for the next day. I resumed taking Bisop, but the
smallest dose available. After 2 ablations things were looking good
so I was advised to try and drop the Bisop which I did on the 2nd attempt
but unfortunately, whilst af hasnt returned, certain signs have so Im back
on it once again. I noticed whilst taking it before, my heartrate was around
low 50s but when I stopped it rose 10 degrees. Now Im back on it its
back to low 50s again.
Yes - I know what you mean about the worry of going on the blockers when you heart rate is low . I was taken of a twice daily 2-5 dose after a cardioversion and felt heaps better. After the results came back from a 24 hour monitor they decided I should go on a dose of 1,25 which even that small a dose bothered me . I was told that the low dose will keep the rate in check if a problem occurs but not cause too much of a problem generally.
Drounding' s comments go pretty much for me too .
At least you know you are not alone.
