Often meds are made by other producers generally same drug under a different name. Mine frequently say tambocor but they are flecainide I've had no problems as they are the same drug .
I agree with Peter, check the ingredients. I had been taking Bisoprolol for about 6 months then my chemist changed to another maker (Mylan) and I started getting heart rate all over the place. Looked at the contents and it had Tartrazine in it a yellow food colouring. It has been banned in many countries because can make you hyper. Changed back to old source and I was okay.
PS I had to phone the Doctor to get a new prescription and explained to him and he said 'yes it can have that effect' great!!!

I am certain brands can make a difference. I have had two brands of propafenone with different and very definite side-effects. The one works great but gives me a minor side-effect whereas the other has a terrible effect on me within 2 days.
I always take Actavis Flecainide, I was once giving the Mylan make and like the experience you had they were nowhere near as effective. My pharmacist now knows that I will only have the Actavis make and I ring him to make sure he has some in stock before I get my prescription sent to him. If he doesn't have it then I pick up my prescription from my GP's surgery and ring every pharmacy until I find one that has the Actavis brand and take the prescription there.
I've had Actavis and Mylan and now have Tambocor. I've not noticed any difference as my AF seems to be well controlled.
I dug out the ingredients other than Flecainide in each of the three brands, and there may be something in the Tambocor which disagrees with you. It looks as if Mylan and Actavis may be made by the same company.
Tambocor: The other ingredients are pregelatinised starch, croscarmellose sodium, microcrystalline cellulose (E460i), hydrogenated vegetable oil, magnesium stearate (E572).
Mylan: The other ingredients are croscarmellose sodium, magnesium stearate, maize starch, pregelatinised maize starch, microcrystalline cellulose (E460).
Actavis: The other ingredients are croscarmellose sodium, magnesium stearate, maize starch, pregelatinised maize starch, microcrystalline cellulose (E460).
I got Tambocor last time but didn't notice any difference. I know one drug that is stronger than generic versions and that is Lanoxin rather than other brands of digoxin but it's something to do with absorption being more effective.
Hi Vicki I only ever use Tambocor as I have had a problem in the past with another brand. In addition to the Flecainide the tablets will be 'bulked out' with other ingredients and one of these could be affecting you. Terry
I haven't had Tambocor for years until this week, been on Flecainide itself for 11 years. As soon as I started taking Tambocor I felt different. Can't put my finger on what is different. It's not a nice feeling. My dose is 150mg twice a day. The first night I took it resulted in a poor night's sleep and a feeling of anxiousness. Last night I dropped to 100mg and had a very good sleep. I've gone back to 150mg for this morning's dose. Of course it could be co-incidence and not Tambocor at all.
