Hi Suzy,
I cannot help you with Wythenshaw Hospital. I just wanted to wish you all the best
for your forthcoming ablation and a speedy recovery. Try not to worry.
Kind Regards
Barry
Yes, I had my first ablation there and was impressed by their high standards. I was very well looked after by everyone, starting with the receptionists who were cheery and welcoming at 7am. I was a bit miffed that three years later I was diverted to Blackpool, but the care was first class there too.
All the best for next week. I hope you find when you get into the cath lab, the apprehensive feelings will be replaced by confidence in all the amazing technical excellence.
hello Rellim,
thank you for yours Reply, when i last went to the hospital, they all seem very nice i have just got a bit Nervous while waiting to hear, i suppose it happens to everyone, once i get there i am sure i will be okay hope you are okay after yours still , thank you again Suzy
I expect you will be fine Suzy and very well looked after. Anyone would be bonkers if they were not a bit fearful - they are going to fiddle with your heart! I've had three ablations and no problems and I am so much better than I was - well worth all the worry beforehand.
I keep hearing about "more than 1 ablation". Could anyone inform me how common this is. It seems like it was something that either I didn't hear the doc say or maybe he forgot.
My ablation was December and since I still have af and many pvc's. Thanks.
I've had three ablations but the aim was slightly different in each attempt.
The first was just testing the water. It was thought that I had no more than tachycardia but I spent most of the ablation going into AF and being cardioverted. They did a bit and sent me home with flecainide to see what it would do. It worked well for a couple of years.
My second ablation was a laser balloon ablation and made a big difference. I was able to give up flecainide afterwards but occasionally I got a little bit of AF - not very fast or bothersome and a big improvement.
My third ablation was just a tidy up job. I have only one pulmonary vein on the left side and it is wider than average, so the odd bit had been missed in the previous ablation.
I think they may tend to do too little and hope it's enough rather than overdo.
I attend Wythenshaw Hospital and my EP is Dr Fox, when we discussed ablation he said he didn't do cryoblation. Which EP is doing yours and I send my good wishes to you for next week, hope you let us all know how you get on, kind regards, Gemsmum

Suzy, didn't have my cryo done in the UK but across the pond. Went fairly smoothly. Going on a month and a half since the procedure. Feel better all around. Even getting back into my exercising . I was apprehensive at first but I was ready to have it done. My afib was getting worse and I was in denial. Best of luck. Looking forward to hearing from you when your done.
Hi, I had a cryblation 2 weeks ago. Not at that hospital tho... Just wanted to let you know it really was quite an easy experience. Worst part was laying on my back for a few hours afterwards. Only discomfort afterwards was a slight pain when taking deep breaths but that went in 48 hrs. Groin was fine, bruised but not pain or even discomfort really. It's a daunting procedure but for me it was painless and I hope you have the same experience. Good luck and look forward to a brighter future 😄.
I'm on the waiting list to have mine done by Dr Brown at Wythenshawe, my experience there has been fantastic.
I could have been referred to Whythenshawe or Liverpool by my GP, living in between them. She said they were both good, but Liverpool was easier to get to, traffic wise, and parking was better - that was the only difference! I had my ablation 3 months ago at Liverpool and feel fine. You are out with the fairies most of the time and the hours in the Cath lab just whizz by. I am sure you will be fine.
Lynn x
