Of Hearts and Minds

I just want to share this beautifully made documentary Of Hearts and Minds about the heart! The first few minutes are graphic footage of a heart op so if you're squeamish look away! The rest of really touching and very interesting.

Enjoy

Thanks for that. I like the way he links heart and brain with our unique ability to empathize. I found myself thinking about my heart a bit differently. When it misbehaves I get angry with it. I shouldn't, it's worth more than that gut response. JanR

Yes jan, I spend a lot of time with my hands on my heart. My heart seems to react so strongly to everything in these crazy times. The crisis in Syria. Violence in movies. Cruelty to animals. I seem to be in hypersensitive mode. Indeed our hearts have minds of their own!! I feel like watching that documentary again now! Glad you liked it.

I think it makes it clear that the more real and authentic we are the better out hearts like it!

My heart is in hypersensitive mode too. Can't watch anyone or any animal being beaten or treated cruel on t.v. I switch it off immediately and avoid anything that creates any form of stress as much as I can as I feel my heart start its crazy beating if I do. I swear if anyone ever broke into my house at night my heart would take off beating wildly and I'd die of shock.

I have this fantasy of going to live in the Welsh mountains, dressing and living exactly how I want and being far away from the madness of the world.

I do understand Jean! I also fear getting any kind of fright or shock as I'm not sure I'd survive either! Anything that reeks of any kind of stress I have to say no to! And that unfortunately goes for certain personalities also....which I find so very hard now! Any kind of hyper, false or manic personalities even the fun and well meaning ones I cant be around anymore. I become so drained!! Makes for a lot of isolation which is also hard on the heart!!

The big question is ...is it the times we live in or is it side effects from medication. I feel it's in part at least due to Flecanide! Having read recent posts on here re this what they call 'dirty drug' I'm more convinced than ever that I am suffering awful side-effects from it!!

I so agree with you about Flecanaide. Everyday I feel less in control of my emotions and am walking around in a fog. I'm uneasy in my mind and on my feet. I've got to get off this drug and get my life back. There has to be a better way of coping with AFib for us! Gracey

I found this online today. It seems to be a day for research today! Read the whole thing. Very interesting. Also watched a Dr John Bergman on Youtube talking about heart health! Amazing!

I suffered with side effects of flecinide and had to go off it ...it was awful as it ran havoc with my stomach where I stopped eating. Wasn't good. As far as people are concerned yes I too am much more discerning about whom I'm around. Too loud, too manic, too ANYTHING is too much! So much you say is so validating in what I have been feeling :)

Hi Eliza, Yes I also feel validated reading what you have to say in both your replies. Will message you.

Blessings to you

Funny I was just thinking I need to live alone in the woods to stay away from being stressed since it seems that since the afib started just about anything can get my heart going fast.....all my doctors tell me "no limitations " since my ablation but whenever I push myself at all as in yoga and working out my heart tells me "slow down". Everything I read here tells me to keep from getting overtired etc. the doctors don't tell you this stuff!!!

Oh wow! Thank you so much for posting this on our website. Although this began very clinical I was absolutely enthralled with the revelations at the end. Watch this everyone and stick through to the end - emotions and their effect on the heart explained. I'm off to do some deep thinking now.

Oh by all means do share on Kai. to me he's saying the more we are connected to our emotions, the more real and authentic we can be the better our heart likes it. 'The truth shall see you free' as the good lord said after all!! :-)

Hi billandben,,

Thanks for posting the superb BBC doco re: Of Hearts and Minds. I particularly found

the connection via neurons between our brain and the "little brain" in the right atrium

fascinating.

All the best to you,

Musetta:)
