Trying to stay calm!

I had a cryoablation on the 20th September and everything has been fine. The longest I have been free from A.F. in five years. However on and off yesterday and today I have been getting missed beats and I am dreading the fact that I will slip back into A.F. I am trying to stay calm must admit I am worried.

I had an ablation on 3rd Jan and my EP told me to expect episodes of skipped beats and double beats and even maybe some AF during the next 3 - 6 months after the procedure.

I wouldn't worry as it's possibly just your heart still adjusting and healing.

Thank you for replying so quickly. I guess I am being silly and just need reassurance. Sirey.

Stay calm mate, worrying about it is only going to make u worse, u might just be having an eptopic beat episode and for all you know it might pass, ring hospital tommorow first thing if your worried, are u still taking blood thinners? And beta blockers? Eptopics are not dangerous if that is all they are but if you are worried leave the worrying to the hospital and try and stay calm, dont suffer in silence and let the hospital know, also i had an ablation 10th november and been af free for about 6 weeks now, but still have the odd blips

Hi Steve2810

Yes I am still on warfarin and atenolol but was taken off the flecainide. I think I started to panic because I had been feeling so well and was over the three month stage, However have just read that it can take up to six months for the heart to calm down. I go back for my check up on the 2nd March. Should have been today but the hospital cancelled last week! Thank you for your reply. Sirey

It is easy to become anxious with any tiny blip, but it happens as your heart heals. Enjoy every AF free day. It's such a gift!

Six months post-ablation, zero episodes of AF, but my EP says the irregular beats are normal and actual demonstrate that the ablation is working.

I'm feeling so much calmer after reading the comments. Thank you, this is such a great site when you feel a bit down. Sirey

Hi Sirey

I know that most afibbers, including myself, are super sensitive about our heartbeat.

Ask a non-afib guy if he ever "feels" his heart? No they most probably do not.

At least we know that it is not life threatning, the warfarin will help for that.

If possible, don't worry, stay strong and remember to breathe! I find myself holding in my breath while I want to "feel" my heart. Deep long breaths will also help you relax(there actually is a big thing about how we do not breathe correctly)

Hope you feel better

The worst thing about being AF free post-ablation is worrying about the condition returning. I know it's difficult but we have to try not to let it rule us. Besides it's ablation therapy that cures AF and they may mean more than one - so it really isn't the end of the world if it isn't cracked first time.

I had my ablation nearly two years ago and still get loads of ectopics. The trouble is that us A-Fibbers analyse every last beat of our hearts. Stay strong and try not to worry.

Hi Therealsue

I cannot put it in better words so I'll use yours "The trouble is that us A-Fibbers analyse every last beat of our hearts".

That sounds like an afib aftereffect, cured or not, you analyse every beat.

I think you are right Thereaisue. Apart from the first week after the ablation when I had a few blips I had been fine so when I started having some ectopic I thought oh no here we go again. I am much calmer this morning thanks to all the kind people on this site. Sirey

Sirey, mine was Sept. 25. My ep told me that it would take 3-6 months to heal. I’ve had a few blips but I think it’s normal! Hang in there and have a Merry Christmas!
