In my last post I talked about on my ablation which was over 2 weeks ago. I forgot to ask did anyone have a cough and felt a bit wheezy and out of breath at times. I am feeling well just notice it a bit could it be to do with heart healing?

I am sure you will get more informative replies than mine but thought I would just post with my experience . I had an ablation 5days ago and feel well but I do have a slight dry cough and my breathing is shallower at times(feel I can't take a really deep breath . )From previous posts on thus forum I gathered that this is common post op. I was advised By my EP on discharge about how the phrenic nerve can be affected by this procedure and he reassured me that these symptoms are normally transient . I would see my GP if I developed a high temperature and flu like symptoms and started feeling unwell as Very rarely this could be to do with the ablation and would need investigating . Hope this helps x
HI Rob,
I didn't exactly mirror your symptoms but I did have a tight chest and out of breath feeling ( no cough as such) for a few weeks after my ablation .I was also told that during the procedure that various nerves can be "bruised", including those which serve the lungs resulting in these symptoms. Always check out if in doubt, but I wouldn't worry too much. A Bowen technique practitioner put me onto an exercise to improve the breathing and "open" the lungs, usually used to help to asthma patients. I have attached a youtube link just in case you might find it helpful. Hope your recovery continues!
I had the same and indeed reading this forum it does seem quite common even though they never warn you about it. Not sure why but maybe its always cleared up by the time the EP sees the patient again.
Hi Rob, had my ablation nearly 5 weeks ago and had a cough and felt wheezy immediately after. I went to the doctors and they said I had a chest infection and put me on antibiotics. I had a really sore throat for a week as well. It took a few weeks for the cough to go. Am starting to feel good again now but get a few short flutters and funny beats a few times a day. I think this is all quite normal, hope all keeps well for you.
