Well that was quick, the arrhythmia nurse phoned me on Friday to say the EP wanted to see me so she would arrange the appointment, a letter arrived this morning, my appointment is the 9th of October. I'm blown away at the speed

It certainly is Jay, the first time it took many months with my notes being lost and my GP having to re write requesting an appointment.

It is Rellim, I just want to get on with my life, so getting onto the EP list so quickly is really good

You are lucky - I was told on Sept. 4th that I would be referred to an EP and I am still waiting to hear when the appointment will be. I do have to go for a treadmill test on Monday so perhaps they are waiting for that result?

The cardiologist recommended me for an Ablation, but since I had the cardioversion at the end of July I have felt quite normal - no episodes of any kind. I have Atrial Flutter.

I was due to go to Africa this week, but he recommended I postpone it - as did my GP. He said if I had an ablation I would be safer, but surely they won't want to do one when at the moment I have no problems. I feel so good I wish I had gone!

Hi Hydrengea, I waited along time for my first ablation too. But I did manage a holiday while I was waiting, I decided If I went in to AF, it would happen whether I was at home or away. I found an insurance company who would cover me and hightailed it off to Europe. I had a couple of uncomfortable moments but i was really glad I went. Not sure I would have gone to Africa though

Yes, the doctor said Cornwall or the Lakes - Europe if you must! I'm feeling a wimp now as I am fine - this week I would have been on safari in Botswana! Never mind - I'll have it to look forward to next year.

Which insurance company did you use? Were you not covered with your E11 card?

We use all clear.com they were very good. We do have the EHC but it does not replace travel insurance

I am always amazed at the support we get from the hospitals and gp s in this area. (Bristol, and North Somerset) I know it hasn't always been good, and it's not so good in other areas. Shame it's so patchy. But I've always had great treatment. Chat soon.

My initial brush with cardiology did not go well, that was until our Alex (paramedic) waded in, since then there's been no looking back. I think the key for me has been knowledge, if you have an understanding of what's happening and what you want to happen and can articulate this to your specialist it helps your case for treatment.
