Welcome to the site Sueallen. Good you are now on anticoagulant. What other treatment plan have you? Don't forget to look at the AF Association website where there are loads of helpful fact sheets.

Yes I have looked I also find the BHF very useful. I am a retired nurse so have some knowledge, also there is strong family history, I have paroxysmal AF, I requested consideration of anticoagulants on my last sojourn to hospital as I am approaching 70

I use Flecanide on a prn basis( not taken any for 5 weeks). I have lost about 1 & a half stones in weight & only have minimal alcohol as I noted this was a factor in the episodes(although I never was a heavy drinker)both of my siblings have AF, one also has sleep apnoea, the other one has had a stroke. I am glad to be on warfarin

Have you been given a number to phone for support or queries? I'm new to AF,and have been so anxious, desperately trying to find someone professional to talk to. This site has been wonderful. I been up at Stoke ,live in Stone. There's nothing available at Stoke ,I've asked. Keep well and good luck.

There is a hot line on AF Association and you can always ask here. I'm not on 24/7 but quite a lot.

hi also just started on Warfarin, have had paroxysmal AF since 25, now 51, now also have SVT so preparing for oblation, hence the warfarin, are nausea, headache and diarrhea common side effects to the warfarin?

I was and am now in persistent AF. I certainly had diarrhoea and headaches when I started warfarin. I always had a tendency to get diarrhoea for a few years but it got worse after starting warfarin. However since my ablation at the end of March they are a much rarer event. I suspect more due to ablation although not a listed symptom? Was it due to AF affecting Vagal nerve? Headaches less now but that could be explained partly due to Physio? Only a partial help I suspect.

So far I have no side affects with the Warfarin
