Does anyone else watch it, one of the older cast collapsed in the street after rowing with wife, rushed to hospital, then to be told he had AF, had to smile.

I have written to ITV to complain as the script implied that AF was a death sentence and ' he might not be so lucky next time' -terrify for those watching who aren't members of this forum and know what the true facts are. Very irresponsible due to lack of research by the script writers. The more who complain the better - just google ' complain to ITV '.

I just sent email to Itv too, I don't watch it so thanks for posting!! AF was covered on casualty few months back, they covered it well but was alarmed they mentioned connection to Dimensia? Not looked into that as yet, not good if true as enough if it in my family as it is! 😞

Yes, I almost choked on my wee glass of wine I was drinking (it had been a long day) and felt also that the comment was a bit misleading that he 'might not be so lucky next time'

Thankfully, because of being on here I know different but a few months ago that would have terrified me!!!

Maybe we should ask Eric to join us on here!! :-)

I watched it.Eric Pollard after being told he might not be so lucky next time was also told that he would need medication to control it. They showed the medication he was given which was a packet of 0.5 mg Warfarin and a packet of 1mg Warfarin. While we have all tried to get the message across that we must be anti coagulated I ,although with no medical knowledge,do know that won't help regulate or control the heart rate in any way and I also doubt a starting of 1.5mgs of Warfarin would do much to bring the INR into the 2to 3 range which most of us need.

What a dreadful piece of drama according to the ITV A.F. is a death sentence. What anybody newly diagnosed thought I dread to think .For all of you out there , with no doubt the very unusual exception it is not terminal (although to be fair we are all terminal -lol ) you learn to deal with it either with your own method ,ablation or medication.

Don't know about anyone else, but I had to begin with a week on heparin injections into the stomach.

Didn't see the programme but felt I had to write about the warfarin query.

1.5mg of warfarin can work on some people, perhaps they were introducing it carefully. Overdosing can be fatal . 5 mg put me in hospital for three weeks six years ago. Everyone is an individual and although we all have AF on this site we all have different methods of coping and degrees of pain etc.. By the way I eat greens and veg but no meat. Terry,( Terjo )

I do take Wafarin 2.5mg and 3mg some days.

in reply to Terjo

Hope it is being monitored, by the doctor, as your INT has to be between2-3 I am on 8 mg a day to keep it at the right level.??

INR not int

Yes I monitor it with coagucheck machine which we bought about two years ago when I went back on warfarin. The new anticoagulants upset my tummy. It usually registers around 2.2 or 2.3. It's been up to 2.8 on one occasion. The consultant is happy to keep it below 2.5. Thank you for your concern. Terry

Look on the bright side AF sufferers may get more sympathy now than in the past. Last night I tried telling my wife that washing up was very stressful for me but she knows as much as I do about my AF so it was a lost cause.

That said I have complained to ITV about the episode which could cause fear and distress to some AF sufferers.

Have to admit that I too saw the (tongue in cheek) benefits of the possibility of getting more sympathy, and in my case the potential for getting out of the stress of the weekly shop.

I just wonder why script writers embark on story lines such as this without sufficient research. I remember one soap where they had the funeral before getting the death certificate. Nuff said.

Don't know why they just didn't make it leprosy....make it interesting..Thank God I never watch soaps.

My first thought was good - maybe some people will be a bit more understanding about our affliction and show a bit of sympathy and realise that we can feel rotten at times!!!!
