For what it's worth...

This isn't going to cure anything, but may help along the way: Since re-commencing Boots' highest dosage Omega 3 Fish Oil 1300mgs, my heart has been calmer with reduced symptoms.

I always seem to do well on it in the past, but broke off to try krill and CQ10, which I can't afford to keep up.

Hi, I was told I couldn't take Omega 3 fish oil by the Anticoagulant Clinic at Lancaster as I am on Warfarin, so I gave away all my expensive capsules. Perhaps you aren't on Warfarin, but lucky enough to be prescribed one of the new anticoagulants?

in reply toHastyHeart

My warfarin clinic kept me on fish oil and multivitamin with Vit K, and then just factored those items in my dosing regime.

Good Morning! Re being told by "Warfarin Clinic" that I couldn't take Omega 3 fish oil capsules, I was also told I couldn't take glucosamine, or any multivitamin tablet with Vit K in it. I'd been taking those three for many years, so stopped in order to comply. T'was an expensive giveaway for me! May go back on multivitamin and see what happens to INR which is just 3 this week and a nasty-looking bruise to show for it. Have sore, cracked side of mouth and pharmacist told me yesterday to take B12 in multivitamin tablet.

Hasty heart, except for Vit K I was taking the same & did the same as you (I'd got a years supply whilst in England so was a very expensive giveaway), I have now started taking Cod Liver oil capsules and Magnesium and INR is still up & down. I'v also eaten cranberries (by mistake) without any ill effects & can't help wondering if most of the things are precautionary, and could all be taken in small doses (not all at once obviously :) )

Now that's an eye-opener for me! I'm on Dabigatran which is also a NOAC and I decided to start taking fish oil and had to stop because it was making me feel really grotty gut-wise. I would never have made a connection between a NOAC and fish oil if I hadn't read your post.....so thank you 😃

Hi Mamamarilyn! Well, I've felt grotty gut-wise a lot recently and put it down to a) a bug, b) starting Bisoprolol, c) starting Warfarin, d) just a bad day! In other words, I don't really know. We are all different anyway. Maybe I just accept that it'll be like this and get on with it. GP sick of seeing me++ since April, I suspect altho' he's always so nice and helpful.

Hi I take 10mg bisoprolol. 5mg apixaban.twice a day candesartan plus. imdur.simvastatin. Potassium frusemide stopped the fish oil and have never had upset tummy but like you say we are all different

I did the same, but have now started taking cod liver oil capsules to help my joints.

Krill was recommended to me when I explained I didn't have a gall bladder, not sure if it makes any difference as I haven't tried alternatives. I think fish oils do help but always buy the best you can afford, I think its those that have been processed without high heats.
