Am having a AV Node ablation +CRT - P proceedure this coming Thursday, hopefully should sort out the paraxsymol AF that I have put up with for the past 11years. Two ablations plus 3 Cardioversions did not sort me out!! Anyone else experienced this proceedure?
AV NODE : Am having a AV Node ablation... - Atrial Fibrillati...
AV NODE
I presume that you are having the device fitted on Thursday and the AV node ablated some time later or has the device already been done?
All getting dealt with at the same time Bob - have been booked in as a day case - being admitted at 11am!!! Personally, I can see myself staying in over night. Did so with previous ablations. What a lot to deal with in one session!!
I’ve had the AV Node Ablation.......it’s the easiest procedure out of all the Ablations I’ve had done.
The other two were Radio Frequency Ablations, I’ve also had one Cardioversion.
My AVNA took approximately 45 mins.
The RFA’s took 5 hours each.
The AVNA was the best procedure to have done on this journey.
I already had a pacemaker installed four years ago for Bradycardia.
On my understanding..I am booked in for the pace and ablate procedure ..they pace....make sure it works ok...then you go back a few weeks later...to be ablated...otherwise if anything goes wrong....
Yes Bob, definitely in the UK Cardiology up North West for both Blate and Pace. Understand it will be a Bi Ventricular pacemaker fitted plus ablation of the AV node. Had an appointment with the pre op nurse last Thursday, of course myself including my daughters were both going down the line of an overnight stay - when mentioned this to nurse her comment was I had been booked in as a day case!! Made my feelings perfectly clear to staying in like my cardiologist had commented on an overnight stay. She said yes she could add that as an extra comment, but warned me that could mean a last minute cancellation!! By now we all appreciate how valuable hospital beds are.
Must say that a month ago was at a talk on one of the local canals, kept dozing off to sleep, nearly fell off the chair once!! When I arrived home, thankfully a friend had been driving, checked the Heart rate was 36BPM!! Wow A&E !!!!
So could it be the answer to getting it all done in one fell swoop?!
Looks like I'm heading for a pacemaker, not sure what type, but please tell us how it goes. Best wishes!
I have been told that my only option now is a pace and ablate that is from a EP at Papworth. When I saw him last August he was talking about doing it together, so some seem to do it that way. After seeing him and doing a bit of research it is unusual, most EP's do pacemaker first, let it settle then do the AV node a few months later. If I go ahead with this , I certainly want pacemaker first then ablation.
Cassie
Hi Cassie, my EP, who I have been with for the past 11years, knows myself and possibly heart inside out!! We hope all EP's are very knowledgeable (trust them in every way) , when I have a word with mine pre op will quiz him on thus and the reason for doing a double whammy!!
Mags
Hi Mags, let us know how you get on and best of luck for Thursday. I still have not made my decision yet - I think there are quite a few of us on here who are in the same situation. Hopefully you will be able to come off all medication - except anticoagulant - after the procedure.
Cassie
I wish you well. I may be getting a node ablation, my EP says that’s next for me. I have a pacemaker for last 4 years.
Please let us know how you truly feel about this a couple of months down the road.
I have had 3 ablations and 3 cardio over the last many years, however since my last ablation 9 months ago, I have only had tachardyia.
Best wishes
Marney
