Hello Porche,
Delighted to hear your news and that you are well.
You must feel very humble, receiving"The Gift Of Life"from someone who thinks of others after they have gone.
Eleanor.
Hi Porsche, hope you're still feeling well. Must be about time for an update! xx
Thank you for all your replies. Its been an amazing 3 wks....I received my call at 9pm 29th junen& given 15mins to leave in car with sirens & blue light all the way to cambridge! I'd only been listed for 2wks . I was in theatre for 10hrs...my wonderful children didnt leave my side while I was in intensive care for 6days. Since then ive made a great recovery, my kidneys have returned to normall function & I feel so well.
I cant say its easy but the hospial have made it as painfree as possible & I could not have had bettter care beit from consultants to cleaners.
They allowed me home on friday only 18 days post op, im feeling weak but keeping up with my physio, a hole box of pills & taking lots of rest. Back to cambridge weekly for check up & heart biopsy for the next month then 2 wkly....thats a lot of mikes from Bristol!
Fantastic!! So glad all is still going well, and that you’re at home too. I’m lost for words really; just so happy for you. Please can you put the good news up on the ICD forum, they would all love to know about it. There is another transplant patient in the group (well his wife is) and your story would give the family a boost, as he is having more problems than you. XXX
Hi Porsche, I assume you've been for your first weekly check-up and are back home again. How did it go and how did you cope with the journey there and back? Do you have to arrange the journey yourself or do the NHS provide the transport? Hope you are well and still improving. XX
I am back home, check up went well, no rejection no infection...back on 5th August. We travelled up the night before as the clinic like you there at 8.30! My daughter drove, I requested transport from go but not available...going to look into it again tomorrow. Also asked social services for some domestic help..not available either. ..only personal care if I needed it but dont, was told to get an agency cleaner....so thats £130 in travel ..nhs will pay for petrol only & b&b and £30 a week for cleaner, £16 aweek for taxi to gp...im on benefits as was dismissed from job on ill health...leaves approx £300 a month for mortgage, service billls...food! The nhs has gone crazy...I only wanted help for 6 wks!
on a serious note, im doing really well & cant believe how much better I feel.
Glad to hear that physically you're doing so well but sorry to hear about the other problems. If I can be of any help just pm me, I'm only about ¾hr away from you so even if it’s just company needed for an evening just shout. Daytime is more difficult but could probably be arranged if necessary. Take care and make sure you don’t overdo things – you ladies seem to have a tendency for doing that!
Hello Porshe, how are things? Must be about time for another update - haven't heard from you for a bit!
Wow, that is amazing. Now you drive that car of yours without worrying about your ticker
