When working out my stroke risk the Dr asked if I had angina or get any pains in back of legs.....as far as I know I don't have angina, however I have experienced what I can only describe as a pulled or tight muscle feeling in back of my calves last few days, not sure if to ring and ask about it.....they'll be fed up of me....and you will hahaha
Quick question: When working out my... - Atrial Fibrillati...
Quick question
Is it possible he's asking you about your legs with regard to a DVT, or the effects of restricted calcified arteries?
I've never been asked anything like that before.
I very much doubt if he means the pulled muscle/tight feeling in your calves as you describe.
Is this your GP rather than your EP asking and are you asking to go on anticoagulants or is he suggesting them?
I'm interested as I was told the risks of anticoagulants would outweigh the benefits for me at my age (55) and like you I have only one AF episode under my belt.
I know how you're feeling. I was v v worried in the early stages after my AF in 2012 and imagined alsorts; the pains in my neck due to blocked carotid arteries etc.
So I decided to go for one of those Life Screening tests. I had my carotid arteries ultrascanned for any blockages and my abdominal aorta scanned for aneurism, plus a check of my peripheral circulation! I got an all clear on them all. Phew!

its the ep asking the question, like you he thought the risk of anticoagulants outweighed the risk of stroke at the moment, however that was after he asked me lots of questions, the angina and leg being one of them,
now im not sure if ive always had it but the last few days ive noticed pain or cramping in my calves, which can be a sign of blocked arteries in the legs,
maybe im just being a bit scared and looking too far into things.
they also picked up a right bundle branch block which can be brought on by a number of thiings, blocked arteries being one of them, so ive put 2 and 2 together and got 10 if you see......
ive always kept an eye on my cholesterol and blood sugar and apart from being a bit overweight my cholesterol is 3.8 and blood sugar 5.......im hoping this narrows down my chances of narrowed arteries at my age
That all sounds really good to me!
Think the calf thing could be a sign of magnesium deficiency. Cramp and achy legs can be treated with mg.
And yes you are looking on the negative side but I think that's normal .
(My 2+2 always =10 too!)

Oddly enough I have been having the same feeling in the calves on and off for past 2 weeks and am seeing GP on Monday for it. They keep a good eye on my legs since my bypass (which 'borrowed' a vein from the left leg) and to date it's been ok. But my blood sugar was high a month ago so I cut down on anything sugary and now the calve pain appeared. But conversely I've found the angina has almost gone. Aren't human bodies complicated ?
I had that feeling nearly three years ago, after much nagging from my wife, I went to the doctor, it turned out that I had a DVT, an hour latter I was being treated in hospital.
At the same time is also told me that I was sufferinf from AF. Go again to your GP and get it storted out
Well I'm currently waiting for tests, however a bit of digging about on Google has brought up lots of things that have scared the life out of me, some with terrible prognosis
