I felt so pleased having gone 14 weeks without an AF attack then bang, had one at the beginning of the week. Took my pill in the pocket and all calmed down, then later in the day I started to get an intermittent sharp pain in my left chest area. Eventually called 999 and was taken to A&E, two hours outside in the ambulance then 5 hours on a trolley in a corridor! Bloods taken and ECG done, both came back clear but was told I possibly have stable Angina. Discharged at 2am in the morning.
I was okay for a day then had another attack firstly of AF and then much later in the evening and through the night intermittent sharp pains.
I wasn’t given any meds in hospital for the Angina, I take Apixaban and Bisoprolol for the AF. I have tried to get in contact with my GP for an appointment and advice but the line is permanently busy, I really do not know what to do, are these intermittent episodes of angina dangerous? Or should I just rest and hope they subside?
I find it all frightened and upsetting.

I have angina but ‘sharp pain’ with no other symptoms isn’t familiar. I’ve had it in the centre of my chest and at the base of my throat running up my neck, caused by my heart not being able to cope with the AF and the arteries spasming. But posting in BHF good idea.
If you are worried phone 111 and ask for advice or you could phone a cardiac nurse on the BHF forum. It must be very concerning for you so hope you soon get some reassurance.
first of all , if once you have discharge from hospital without any drugs adjustment, it wasn’t adequate service. The severity of episodes can happened you should go to emergency, where the conditions would be verified and checked again.
In terms of medication, perhaps you should take Bisoprolol every day , but not PILL IN POCKET
I used to do the same, now I am mandatory 5 mg everyday and Apixaban 5 mg twice a day, because with the time conditions are change and adjustment should be done by cardiologists!
Thanks for your response. I have taken Bisoprolol and Apixaban daily since being diagnosed with AF 4 or 5 years ago. It is the new problem of possible Angina that has been my real concern. Since my original post I have noted when accessing my medical records on NHS app that my GP has just written requesting my appointment with a cardiologist so hopefully things may start moving.
