Is it okay to take aspirin if you are taking Pradaxa?

Pradaxa and aspirin
I was told to stop my aspirin when I started Pradaxa, they both thin the blood so don't see why would take both. Talk to your doctor!
When I went on Pradaxa my cardiologist took me off of the daily baby aspirin.....not sure about once in a while usage............
Someone told me they heard you weren't supposed to take both. Plan on asking my EP at my next appointment. I seem to have a lot of headaches and wanted to take aspirin for that.
Why would you want to? Aspirin does nothing for stroke prevention in AF so unless you have other cardiac conditions which require the aspirin the answer is NO. If you need pain control the only permitted is paracetemol. Never ibuprophen .

I think it would be a good idea for you to discuss this with your GP and ask why you are taking both of these tablets and is it ok. This would put your mind at rest and it should only take a telephone call to your surgery.
Best wishes.

I was interested by your post because I thought plavix and pradaxa were the same thing and i am taking both plavix and aspirin. I was wrong they are different BUT I'd suggest you google pradaxa and aspririn.
They are commonly prescribed together because they do slightly different things to assist in stroke prevention.
If your CHADS score is 0 or 1 - gpnotebook.co.uk/simplepage... - then aspririn IS the preferred medication. Higher than 1 and warfarin or similar would be expected.
If your cardio has decided pradaxa and aspririn is right for you then leave it as is - they know your medical history and current circumstance much better than us.
That is not the message I have received from my EP nor the AFA who both agree asprin is not recommended for stroke prevention for people with AF. I thought this recommendation had been superseded with the new NICE guidelines. I rather thought asprin was no longer prescribed or recommended by NICE for those with AF of any age? Or did I miss something and all change again? Or is it just that the GPs are being fed old information? Does explain a lot of how so many members of this forum are still being advised to take asprin with a 0 - 1 CHADSVASC score though.
To the original question, I was warned never to take asprin or any product containing asprin whilst taking Pradaxa.
Do you know the publish date of your link? I couldn't see anything on the page and am now confused!
