A belated Happy Easter, everyone.
At 10am yesterday morning, I found myself back in AF. Stayed in sinus just 6 weeks, 2 days. Tried everything to convert back myself, so off to hospital in the next couple of hours for some help.

Just been discussing that with my partner. Tried everything else, lol. Yea, frustratings the word. 16 hours now. Going to hosp in another 2. Hopefully they'll cardiovert me there and then. Might as well book my next one for 7 weeks.
Have to laugh about it don't we?

LOL Yep I a used to mine being every 8 weeks or so until I started magnesium supplements. Fingers crossed its been 10 weeks and only had 2 minor attacks lasting about 15 mins! Good luck at A&E
How much magnesium do you take a day and has it brought your heart into sinus rhythm ? I am taking one 400mg a day and no change.
Magnesium is something I need to look into. I'm currently looking up some top EP's for a much needed, (sadly) ablation. Will be discussing all these things with my Cardiologist in the next few days
Someone here warned me that Dr's and specialists receive virtually no training on supplements so won't necessarily be able to advice about supplementation. I asked my Dr point blank last time I saw about magnesium supplementation and whether he thought I was on the right track with magnesium oil applied transdermally and he confirmed the received virtually no training in this area.Dr's prescribe drugs not supplements. Just saying...
Firstly what kind of magnesium? Magnesium oxide is the least effective when for uptake by the body. As I have learnt more I have purchased different types so I am doing a combo at the moment. Magnesium Orotate, Chelated Magnesium and also externally applied magnesium oil. The oil is the most effective as there is no digestive barrier - it is absorbed through the skin and then into the blood.
I try to get to 1000mg a day and will keep this up for a few months and scale back to about 600mg.
You say 400mg but is that a 400mg tablet which contains other things OR is it 400mg of magnesium?
I plan to move to Magnesium Taurate eventually as this one seems to get the best overall reviews.
I wouldn't recommend you use the orotate - it has been shown to be the best for heart health but there are some minor studies about it which indicate problems at high doses so best to be cautious.
The magnesium I am on is 337 mg as oxide,
36mg as phosphate 27 mg as amino acid chelate and zinc oxide 2 mg so maybe not the best one. I initially started taking it for leg cramps at night which it has stopped and then saw it is also helpful for AFib.

Have you looked at Dr Sinatra in the US. I emailed him about a problem and got a reply, he might suggest some supplements to help. He is a naturopathic cardiologist who believes in conventional treatment but that natural treatments work. Just had a quick look - Hawthorn Berry promotes regular beats, L-Taurine an amino acid promotes normal heart rhythm. 2000mg three times a day. There are a number of ebooks out there by cardiologists about supplements. Good luck, x

UPDATE. I went to hospital as planned and this afternoon had my third DC Cardioversion. 150J did it. The episode lasted a total of 29 hours. We didn't even attempt a chemical cardioversion as it just doesn't work.
My AF has now advanced to Persistant so I've got to get my head round that one. The good news though, is that as a result of today, everything is being rushed ahead, PLUS if I go back into AF again within the next 7-8 weeks, they are going to keep me in and I'm hoping do the ablation there and then.
This is now REALLY starting to drive me insane, and I want to publically thank my partner, Gill, for all her love and support.
Anyway, onwards and upwards.
Resting up tomorrow and hopefully stay in sinus for a while.
