Pre assessment

Just returned from having a very thorough pre assessment prior to ablation next Tuesday. Got to come off flecainide from Thursday so thats a bit scary because I feel thats whats keeping my heart under control. Hope I can keep out of hospital until next week.

Hi Bridget. When I was told to test out how much I needed flecainide by dropping it to half my usual dose it was four days before I went into AF and my GP said that was typical, so you might find you'll last out fairly well. Scary though!

Yes it is. I feel like its my lifeline and someone is taking it away. However thats what I really want !!! To be drug free

I've been able to give up flecainide after an ablation a year ago. It's really nice not to depend on it.

Good luck with the ablation Bridget and I hope they put your mind at ease about the procedure. I'm guessing it must be down to the hospital or your individual circumstances coming off Flecainide, as I wasn't advised to stop any medication prior to my ablation.

Hi Jason i guess it is but I am so worried now about going into AF . Cant do anything to prevent it either cos it can happen any time night or day. But thanks for the good wishes. Hopefully all being well this time next week Ill be free from AF 😉
