I took the Needs Assessment

I was looking for information on a switch from Atenolol to Bisoprolol (introduced by my GP) and I'm on the last blister sachet of the former.

But I've found out much more here and look forward to finding motivation for weight loss & exercise but with a bad knee situation. My doctor said I can do some brisk walking or trekking but no running or jogging. Planning to see a specialist on that ASAP (...next week?).

What, I wonder, are the advantages of Bisoprolol over Atenolol and why does your GP want you to change? Doctors seem to love Bisoprolol.

Riding an exercise cycle can do a lot for a bad knee.

PS - Really sorry not to have been more polite and said hello and welcome.

I hope someone else has something to say!

I appreciate your concern Rellim2. I'll find out from my GP about the switch but I recall I wasn't sleeping well and my BP wasn't slowing down?

I have an Exercise bike at home but I feel I should get a referral to see a specialist at a local orthopaedic hospital before any further ado.

A referral sounds a good idea. Cycle riding is not weight bearing and yet gets a knee - both of them in fact - working.

I believe bisoprolol is the better tablet. The other quite old so your doctor is good because atenolol is much cheaper.

I have been swapped the other way round from Bisoprolol which slowed me down terribly, caused cold feet and numbness, weight gain and now I am on Atenolol I feel fantastic.

I guess it is a case of different strokes for different folks.
