Has anyone got any experience with this? My doctor recently suggested this could help me dealing with my anxiety.
How does it work ? And is this a true option for people dealing with Af on a daily basis?
Take care

Hi Nikita, are you on any beta blockers or medication ? I've just had a quick google and it seems pretty good.. nhs.uk/conditions/stress-an...
I know I got down with AF, and its hard adjusting but in my case, an anti-depressive helped, as there was a link between Beta Blockers and depression. I resisted for months, then took it and its made the whole world a lot better for me
Hi,
I am currently taking Tambocor as a pill in the pocket but I am having a rough time with AF episodes and lots of PAC's so I am basically taking it every day now.
My doctor also prescribed Xanax for my anxiety. He doesn't want me to take an antidepressant because of its cardiac side-effects. Might I ask you which anti-depressant you are taking? Do you need to check your QT- interval on a regular base?
Not sure my first reply was submitted? I use mindfulness and find it helpful, stop worrying about the past which I can't change and not worrying about the future because I can't predict that either. I have to practice the technique or I can slip back into old habits! There are some books on mindfulness which you may find helpful, I think some places may even run courses on the technique too. I use it mainly to help me sleep better as I used to suffer with insomnia, mindfulness is one technique I use to stop myself worrying about whether I will have a good or bad nights sleep, but mindfulness helps me in other areas of my life too. It is certainly worth trying, could have lots of positive benefits.
Nikita - I'm in the middle of an 8 week course of Mindfulness meditation for stress reduction I'm finding it very helpful alround - if you're not able to attend a course I'd also recommend a website called Headspace - initially it offers 10 x 10 minute free sessions of an introduction to Mindfulness very helpful and easy to follow - can definitely recommend good luck - Cathy
YES! It changed many things regarding AF for me and other aspects of life. Find what works for you.... headspace App
I like tarabrach.com
free lectures and guided meditations.
Find what works for you and be kind to yourself while developing mindfullness. Patience!
Take care
I focus on one day only and write down the good points in a diary; sounds pedantic I know but after a couple of weeks practice it works.
Hi,
I think that Mindfulness is a very positive addition to daily life, takes practice, usually good in short 20 minute sessions, concentrate on the breath, we ran acourse at the museum where I work, everyone found it beneficial. Can't do any harm.
Good luck,
Pat
Another vote for Tara Brach. Headspace has a free taster of I think 10 days. Then you can subscribe if you wish.I do know someone who just redoes the free ones. There is an app too so can take it with you. Also facebook page and you tube.
Mindfulness meditation re trains brain pathways so you don't carry on on with old less useful ways of trying to cope (anxiety worrying). It is research based not some weird idea to fob you off. Needs practice.Ideally a few minutes every day.
Thank you so much for all your positive comments. I enjoyed reading them.
I would say you pretty much conviced me. I had my doubts but now I am going to enroll in a course they are giving nearby where I live.
I haven't read up on it but I think it's really about living in the moment, not fretting over the past or worrying about the future. Which is not the same, I am sternly told, as not planning to fill in your tax form
