For my ablation tomorrow, after I am done will I literally be on my back until discharged the following day, was just wondering about passing the time when awake.

Hi. I had downloaded an audio book onto my kindle....a light hearted easy to listen to, autobiography. Also downloaded radio app onto phone( with headphones of course ) . In the event, I was allowed to have the back of my bed slightly raised straight away. I was very sleepy for the first few hours and would have welcomed a bit of shut eye but husband and son thought otherwise. However, when it was really time t go to sleep I of course was wide awake so I was glad of the book and radio. Headphones a must while the rest of the ward is fast asleep!) Good luck. Will be thinking of you.x

You will have to stay laid down for 4 hours. Lay out everything that you will need on the bedside table ie phone, audio, tissues, sports bottle of water, lip salve, food etc.

The 4 hrs passed quickly but I did have an urgent need for a wee. This was odd as I hadn't had a drink for 15 hrs. Oh, the horror of the horizontal bed pan! Think 2ins deep and 2ft square tin tray! Men are lucky to be more appropriately equipped!

iPad, headphones, music, Solitaire, radio. Or a good book.

You seem more worried about the boring time afterwards than the op, which in my experience is about right.

Hope it goes well.

Thanks all

Yep still pretty relaxed, but that could all change come tomorrow morning.

Who knows, it there is a TV I might be able to watch the Chelsea game tomorrow night if they prop me up.

Got iPad, iPhone , iPod lip salve water bottle so just need to get it over and done with now.

Watch this space😃😃

If you're being sedated, you can watch the TV whilst they're doing the ablation :-)

In Liverpool they have the TVs so high on the wall that the best way to watch without getting a stiff neck is to lie flat out on the bed.

Stay calm. You'll be fine.

All the best. Mick. I found the time went very quickly and second time I snoozed so long I was able to sit up right away. Something to read that will make you laugh while you are waiting is a good idea. Look forward to hearing how your day goes.

Just back home after my ablation on Valentine's Day recovery post procedure was fine a steady raising of the bed incline after the GA wore off I had about an hour watching Ireland bearing France although that was a good test of my heart rate. I was able to get out of bed about 2 hours afterwards without too much discomfort but then rested plenty and got a good nights sleep. Plenty of rest over the last couple of days and feeling reasonably normal.

Good luck today

My first ablation was 71/2 hours coupled with 4 hrs after did my back in which needed 18 months to sort out. 2nd and 3rd ablation I said that I needed to sit up slightly afterwards which was allowed. Hope it will be the same for my 4th one in 10 days. They also gave me lots of padding for the ablation as well.
