Burned my wrist last week on an oven shelf and, despite doing all the obvious things, healing has been a problem. A pharmacist told me yesterday that warfarin is to blame. Has anyone else experienced similarly?
Was told not to use creams but an ointment ( Germolene ) instead, though all three local chemists had none! However, got some Savlon Healing Gel and overnight there is a difference - the wound has dried up though " pulling " and I need to keep it dry at all times and not cover it with anything.
Hope this helps someone, especially at Christmas!
Season's greetings to all on the forum!

Thank you for this. I burned my hand some months ago whilst using an oven at a charity event. The scar hasn't faded nearly as well as I would normally expect due to the slow healing process. I'm on dabigatran now but I expect that the effects are similar.
Agas bite sometimes too. Deep ovens and if you don't wear the gauntlets when delving in to get things from the back and have short sleeves on Wow that hurts. Never had much problem healing mind you and been on warfarin ten years or more. Noticed some change recently but put it down to age and thinner skin as we get older.
I've found that - burns, grazes, cuts, all take a little longer to heal. I bit my tongue twice recently - boy was that painful, and swelled up like a balloon. I can see there is some death defying stuff I could give up, like baking, but I'm darned if I'm giving up eating!
Meant to say that the pharmacist recommended to keep it dry in the shower with a rubber glove on, folded at the wrist, and secured with surgical tape. Said it sounds mad, which it does, but believe me, it had the desired effect of keeping the 37mm wound dry!!!!
Thanks to all who responded and a burn-free Christmas to all our " head cooks and bottle-washers "!!
