Hi every one, I have been following the site for a few years, but this is my first post. I have PAF(10years). I am considering an ablation, has any one had one at the Northern General Hospital? What procedure did you have performed and what was your experience?

Hi Paul, i had an ablation 7 weeks ago (not at that hospital but in NI). My experience was very positive. I was very nervous about the whole procedure, however, once in the cath lab felt a lot more reassured at how careful and precise everything is. The IV sedation works immediately and really makes the time fly. I had some pain when the EP ablated, and the pain was actually on my shoulders. But it was certainly not unbearable pain..just made me groan a bit and they keep topping you up with pain relief. The first few weeks after were a bit rocky as i was having breakthrough AF every night all night then slow episodes of heart rhythms some days...a mixture of a lot of stuff was going on for me and was unsettling. I was admitted to hospital twice since but all has settled now and i am feeling better than i have in a long time. Good luck and take it easy

Had mine in London in May this year. Bit daunting but very high tech with all of the monitors. I was in theatre for 7 hours so under general throughout. Was home the day after but exhausted. Back at work after a week and at the gym after 3 weeks. Been in sinus ever since.
