Ablation Day +1

Well I'm one day on now. Wasn't half as bad as expected more uncomfortable than painful and if it became too bad I just told them and morphine and medazalam were given. Today just have slight discomfort in my chest and upper back which is to be expected. One medic said 'just because you don't have a big cut doesn't mean what's been done is insignificant there's been poking and prodding in your heart so take it easy for s couple of weeks. Feel proud of myself for managing to self administers first Fragmin injection ( can't take warfarin or noacs). Had a couple of leaky groins last night but they seem to be holding up today. Thank you all for your good wishes and fingers it's been a success and I'm AF free

Thank you for letting us know. Isn't it a relief when it's all over? You now need to concentrate on getting well. Do expect periods of extreme fatigue so be kind to yourself and take it easy for at least 3 months.

Very best wishes.

Hi Suzie so pleased everything went well. My ablation is on Tuesday. The specialist nurse informed me I will not be given sedation only some morphine if I need it. He did not really explain why. I hope I'll be able to lay still for the duration.

Best wishes! They won't let you suffer at all - it isn't necessary nor in their interest ! They need a calm patient. ask for anything you need. let us know how it goes!

Hi Iris, how are you doing? Didn't you just have ablation?

Thank you, recovering well. As usual a few PVC surges with no success of kicking into AF so in general good. Surprised by my capacity to regenerate so much and so quickly! Dr is the best in the region, has a waiting list, had... he is retiring. It was so lovely to hear the entire staff talk about him so highly. I am still left with the surges of tachycardia and strong palps but I think it might be due to a hiatal hernia. It was something I asked a long time ago, but the EP felt the AF was to be put in order first and then deal with the rest. So, onward and upward. I am looking forward to a 2015 without AF and no ablations!!!! Thank you very much. What would I do without you folks?

Sharon ask if an anaethetist will be present and if not why not. They will need an anaethetist to administer a sedative, sometimes they rely upon one of the team to administer pain control but they need an anaethetist to administer sedatives. If you want to be sedated ask for that.
