Am I alone since being diagnosed with PAF I am always aware of my heart beat it drives me mad ! It's worse at night and when resting I'm sure it wasn't like this before I went on bisoprol and I don't think I'm having an af episode

It can be a hyperviglance you've developed due to the AF, we become very sensitive to our hearts. I need to either get busy or meditate and fully go into the feeling until it has less effect on me. If you aren't in AF and you can be sure of that, then it will be a question of learning to work with it. Sorry - keep asking questions of your doctors to be sure there isn't an underlying situation. you are NOT crazy, it is just overwhelming. take care

No you are not alone. WE AFers become so aware of our hearts it is difficult to ignore them sometimes. I hear my pulse in my right ear if it is quiet especially at night which can be very annoying.

I can fully understand where you are coming from....I was on Bisoprolol and swear my heart went crazy while I was resting. Very difficult to get to sleep - I was on 10 mg which did not relieve my symptoms at all. Now trying out new meds until I get some relief. Please talk to your GP - there are plenty of drugs to try. Good luck.!

Same here - I used to be totally unaware of my heartbeat but AF has made me react to every bump and jump. I didn't think about Bisoprolol making it more obvious and assumed I was hypersensitive from waiting for the next attack.

Yes, I think that's it for me, I just listen out for it and there it is, bobbling around... It never occurred to me it might be something to do with the Bisoprolol either, I am just very aware of my heart.

I had a constant 'thumping' sensation in my chest even when I wasn't experiencing A/F. I thought this was a side effect of my Flecainide although I suspect that stress of anticipating my next A/F episode played a part.

Things have become much better recently and this coincided with being prescribed Bisoprolol so this might not be the cause of your problem.

Same here, over sensitive to my heart beat. I can feel it sometimes when it's normal. When I'm in bed at night sometimes I can hear my pulse in my ears. It's like living next to a train line "which I do" eventually you come to not hear it, deliberately so!
