Absence of CAFE - Hair Man

Don't know if anyone noticed but he has disappeared from the site.

I honestly didn't know if he was for real or like his hair, not! Whatever I found that sort of post very divisive for our community and am thankful for removal of that thread.

How do you know who is on the site because I dont think Loo has been on here for a while but I am not sure

Rellim296 profile image

You are right. Loo took exception to something, and early one morning made some over the top comments and said she was off - and then the whole thread disappeared, fortunately.

dedeottie in reply toRellim296

I think her profile has gone too. Shame. It could be my incompetence at looking though and she may still be here after all. X

He just copied and pasted the same long post he made in his recent thread into other threads. He was trying to get a response but didn't so created the new thread and pasted his standard offering into the initial post.

You can still see the posts if you go to his profile.

So in my books he was/is a troll even though he says he isn't. His objective was just to wind you up.

I missed this Koll as l have been away....What was his name then l can look up his profile.C

Username = cafeman. But his main topic has gone and his pic. Imagine Father Christmas but with more hair and beard, and all black :-)

His comments really went outside the rules of this forum which "bans" any political or religious comments or those likely to cause offence. Hopefully he went of his own volition rather than had to be banned. People are entitled to their own views on such matters but should not preach. Personally I found it quite amusing once I realised what he was.

(PS I even chat to JWs at the door)

I've never before noticed quite so many of us checking the 'recommend' box at the end of a comment!

Same here!

I'm well used to trolls appearing on other forums I use, but it was strangely disconcerting to have one on here - maybe it was someone's idea of a joke, but it wasn't a funny one as far as I'm concerned.

Japaholic profile image
Japaholic in reply toTobw

I agree, it was very bad taste to bait people with religion when they are already stressed over a serious medical condition. Hopefully God made him feel guilty and he went off to preach somewhere else.

It quite upset me to read his post but it is really good to know that there are rules and regulations that keep this site such a brilliant place.

That's interesting about Loo - I wondered if she was ok. What a shame she has gone as her comments made me smile and I think we've all come so involved with her problems birth with her health and at work. If anyone is in touch with her, please ask her to come back as she really helped me put my AF into the right place in my mind!

Oh, welcome back Beancounter!

It's like a big family with relatives we never see!!

Thanks Jenbo

You can see us you know, annual conferences and in my case the irregular Nosh and natters in London.

I do live appearances you know no charge :)

Thank you Ian. We all missed you when you moved house.

Unfortunately I live by the sea in the wilds of Lincolnshire and apparently there aren't any get togethers nearby. Perhaps you could arrange a live appearance at The Embassy in Skegness !!!!!

Both not birth!! It won't let me go back to correct typos! Bit like reading a scrip from ' Hello, hello' !!

His profile is still there, just look at cafeman, then click on Activity. Or you can see the post he made also in this thread, I think repeated:

Very interesting, change of context and minus the hair it is almost believable, and he didn't get a reaction!

There is no activity on his profile, that has been removed.

Yes I'm very sorry to hear about Loo (didn't know about that) but cafeman, not so much. Humorously my auto correct tried to change that to caveman! I was a bit taken aback by his comments and was trying to assume they were humorous, or an attempt - I mean, all that hair... But it was slightly weird. Perhaps he was just a passing troll as folks have said.

Yes I am sorry that Loo has gone, and even sorrier that she took offense at something someone said.

Did you actually see the vitriolic attack she made on me? It was removed very quickly but at my request she was not banned but rather went of her own accord. We all take members at face value and trust that they are honest and reliable people but just sometimes we get shocked. No doubt you would all believe me if I said I was a retired MI6 agent who runs 25 miles every morning before breakfast and has a permanent police escort. (What's that George? I'm not supposed to tell people?)

No I didn't, or if I did I don't recall the incident but then I haven't exactly been on top form myself.

Oh Bob, it is very sad when people behave badly and it is often a reflexive reaction. I am so sorry that you were attacked, it's not nice being a punch bag. We all know the immense amount of time and effort you put into the AFA and this forum to help improve the lot of many and the support you show to others here, I hope you know how valued you are by the majority here?

Once bitten, twice shy was the most oft repeated phrase I hear growing up but I think if you do put yourself out there, there is always going to be someone who will want to knock you down. Thankfully you are a much bigger person and 'Do it anyway"!

And how was the run this morning? And what is your next mission?

Best wishes CD

Sorry Bob I didn't know about that incident. Oh dear what a pity that happened. Never mind onwards and upwards now. It is a shame Loo hasn't apologised though for her sake as well as yours.x

Don't think that was ever going to happen. The whole thread was removed within half an hour and I was only able to read it thanks to Carol messaging me about it. When I went to respond it had been removed. It was strange because I really only echoed C Dreamer's comment that she might look at ways to deal with anxiety. That and doubting cars backfired these days. Ah well, as Ian said to me if you are a public figure you are there to be shot at and if you can't deal with it then leave. I'm still here and whilst it makes me sad that anybody takes offence at anything I say there are times when it says more about the other people I fear. Lets close this now shall we and move on.

Surely he (should that not read CAVEman?) must be happy because he certainly didn't go unnoticed! Of course he is a fake, troll or not. The bit of his face that was not hidden by that ridiculous wig was that of a relatively young person, not the 73-year-old he claimed to be. And if he actually IS 73, then I, for one, would like to have the name of his hairdresser!

I'm feeling really bad now. Perhaps he followed my suggestion and changed his medication from Warfarin to Strychnine? They are both rat poisons which is why I thought it might be appropriate.

I thought it was a good bit of advice myself :-)

If he was looking for attention, just feel sorry for the sad, lonely, mentally unstable person he must be.

Hey come on folks - a little tolerance please. Assuming he was/is for real, he is clearly a very religious man who loves his wife. If it was all a spoof then it wasn't that amusing and one can only feel sorry for the poor man. Leave him alone, lest we wonder who is really doing the trolling........

Think it was just his idea of a joke. So lighten up everyone & let the matter pass. Surprised people fell for it.

I hadn't thought much about it- just thought he had strong faith even if didn't accept his views on AF etc,

Sorry to hear you were attacked Bob- missed that completely

Loo if you are reading this, how about apologising to Bob and re-joining us? Sure you must have been having a bad day or perhaps misunderstood Bob's humour??

Having myself on occasion upset people without meaning to its very difficult to take back things you've said in the heat of the moment. I think we should all take a moment to consider what triggered Loo to say the things she did, I cant even begin to imagine. In the same vein I can't begin to imagine why CAVEMAN or whatever his name was would get off on trolling a forum for people with AF.

I always say people are not born that way, they are made, sculpted and squeezed by society to fit into certain moulds. When they dont fit, somethings going to pop.

I use this forum as a tool, it helps me deal with my condition, to feel less alone with my AF than I would normally do. I feel quite protective of it because of the value it has for me.

I try not to rise to people who bait me, but sometimes I do. It may not be bait though but rather a well meaning but ill thought out comment on someone elses behalf.

So, go in peace Loo and Caveman. Im sure we all wish you well.

The trouble with the internet and texting per se is that we will write something that we would never normally say, and then it remains there! I always try to think to myself......would you actually say that to a persons face. If I can't answer that honestly, then I won't write it ( or try not too! ) x

didnt see what Loo said so cant comment but as we are all adults maybe apologies or private chat could heal the rift
