Hi all

I have had 2 episodes of AF all my life 16 year apart, will this cause me issues in getting life insurance?

I think you will have to ask a broker for that but if you are not on medication, haven't had unexpected admission to hospital and another on regular meds to control it, I think it is unlikely to be high risk.

My insurer only wants to know if I have been hospitalised in the last 12 months. It has been a problem. I have told them my AF is controlled by medication.

It all depends on if you see a person or a machine. I had one policy expire and when they tried to fill in the form on the computer, once it asked about heart conditions and got a yes it wouldn't progress. They were going to get a medical report but then I had cancer and am no longer insurable anyway.

I would not think that it would make much difference at all but make sure that you do declare it.
