Feeling a little down. Just had 3rd catheter ablation 3 weeks ago, still get so tired and sometimes very breathless even walking up the stairs, I've recently had a chest infection and now got a throat and ear infection as well, what can I do to get more energy, I've also started to do gentle exercises.
Is there any meetings in the West Mid... - Atrial Fibrillati...
Is there any meetings in the West Midlands would love to meet local people with my condition.
Hi Brckie
No meetings that I know of, so why not find a place, schedule a meeting and then post it on here for people to respond to?
My Nosh and Natters are very informal, just turn up and chat eat if you wish, or not, and just let people know. It can take a few meetings to become established, but if you get you and 2 to the first meeting it's a success, you have found some fellow sufferers.
Go for it and arrange the Midlands meetings, I might even try and drive up and come to one if it's easy to get to.
Ian
Do I just post it on here Beancounter
Hi Brckie, start small and perhaps just a post to gauge support, so maybe
I am thinking of having a meeting at.... on.... for tea/cakes or a small meal.....
And then people will respond and tell you if they can make the date and place... If you then arrange a meeting, ring the AFA and tell them, they'll probably send you something to help identify you, or you can go to their website and buy one of their very unflattering green T shirts (sorry AFA) but of course they don't do my size so I am spared wearing one.
Just keep it simple and above all don't incur any costs, there is no need, it's very informal.

I'm over in Shrewsbury and recently looked for a group to join. I found one in Wolverhampton and emailed them but they had just closed down !! Don't know of any others I'm afraid. But if you start one let me know.
Is your breathlessness your illness or the pills, any idea? Could be beta-blockers, I can't take them.
Regards
Koll
Maybe I'll start on then, as for the breathlessness I did have them before the procedure
These symptoms might be the meds. ! Did you have them prior to ablation ?
Pip
Sorry to hear that. Had AF for must be 20 years, and my exercise is limited to walking. Fortunately I can walk a few miles with very little problem, if any which I do quite often. Its when I work or exercise with my arms is when I have breathing probs. Can't do it. But walking, I can just keep on going. Having said that I do get quite fatigued from my meds, bisoprolol mainly and I have to rest during the day a few times, laying flat on my back, maybe an hour, or even ten minutes takes the edge off. Less so, if at all, when i'm not at home. One relaxes more at home and then fatigue finds easy target.
With the ablation holding you should find that your breathing will improve in the next few months. Three weeks is too short a time to notice improvement much in that area.
Be well
Pip
Ian is right about the meetings. My West Country Cell lunches three times a year are great fun. You don't need to be formal , just find a pub that does good food and turn up. (Good idea to book of course). "Support Groups" are a whole different ball game and need far more structure but when I started the ball rolling three years ago we took the view that the forum provided the support and we just wanted a social gathering from time to time. Ian started the London group out of jealousy as it is too far for him to come. (Only kidding Ian). Good luck, I'm sure you won't need it and as Ian says if you get three people it is a success. We range from three to ten.

Hi, sorry to hear you are feeling unwell and down. Around 9 weeks ago I started a diet recommended by SRM Grandma on the forum. I have felt so much better for it. I have more energy, dont need an afternoon nap anymore and generally feel energised and more enthusiastic overall.
If you put her name above into the search all her posts will come up and you can find the eating regime. It may help you get back on track.
Hope you feel better soon.
Where in the West Midlands are you Brckie? I'm in Leamington Spa.
