Hi only have old yellow card that needs replacing. I know I should carry something with me as on warfarin. Want something discreet but fits the bill. Any ideas?

Medic wristbands good or not?

AF Association do an anticoagulation card to fit in your wallet. Otherwise there are a number of firms who offer medicalert type items from watches to necklace or wrist bands but be careful as a number of them use a reference number and you pay a fee to have your details on their computer which can be accessed by medics.

Thanks Bob. How do I get the card from the site please?
A bit of info for anyone on anticoagulation and thinking of including their blood group on a wristband. I asked my GP if she had a record of my blood group, although I was pretty sure I knew what it was. She didn't have a record but said it would be in my hospital notes. I asked if they could do a blood group test next time I had a blood test for something else. She said that they aren't done routinely and I would have to pay for it. She then checked my maternity notes from many years ago and found the blood group in there. I had remembered correctly.
I have a wristband I got on the internet- it is white ribber with red writing and looks rather like the wristband made for things like Help the Heroes.
It's important for the unlikely event of car accident etc when you might get separated from cards!!
I have this too and I have lots of different colours. It is discreet in that I can't feel I'm wearing it but it can easily be seen by anyone. I wouldn't want it to be too discreet or in the case of an accident no one would see it although apparently paramedics are trained to check your left wrist for I.D. bracelets. X
There are several sites that do really nice jewellery that they engrave with the details you want - I've got a necklace and a bracelet (to use depending on what else I'm wearing). To get the card from the AFA just use the contact details, they're very good. Google something like 'medic alert jewellery' to find a ton of sites.

G'day Sisterj,
Medic Alert have a good range of stuff. Because I drive buses my risk factor (of accident damage) is quite high and I travel to and from Australia regularly so I have a tag that I wear around my neck on a chain. The tag has a brief outline of my medication, a Medic Alert phone number and reference number. On their computer system that have full details of my condition and all personal details through to next of kin. Suggest you look them up online and see their product range.

Got mine from the Internet, silver expandable bracelet with warfarin user and the red health symbol in the links. Very discrete, looks like a piece of jewellery. My son who is a paramedic says its the sort of thing he looks for if his patient is not conscious. Cost me around £10 plus postage
Thank you to all who replied I will sort this out as soon as I can
