Hi Folks, Has anyone had an extraction of a tooth since they have been on Daily Warfarin.What does it entail? And can it be done via IV.

I understand clotting is an issue, and all my dentist has done thus far is to put me on a course of Antibiotics. He seems a bit unsure. Help please.

I had a tooth extracted and did not have to stop warfarin. Dentist said if my target had been around 4 then I would but at between 2 and. 3 it was not a problem. All went fine - no bleeding or other problems.

I had a tooth our last year. My dentist was happy to go ahead as long as my inr was below 3. The day i had the extraction it was 2.9, cutting it fine, but she was happy to do it. The bleeding, and healing time was no more than normal after an extraction

I just had a local anaesthetic. I'm not sure, but I think dentists use a different form of anaesthetic for warfarin users. It certainly felt no different from any other extraction I've had in the past. I had no sedation

There is no bar on extraction with most dentists and the only additional treatment may be some pressure on a pad for a few moments. Normal local anaesthetic should NOT be used but the one without adrenaline is fine.

Dentist took my tooth out and then we both realised about the wafarin - I'm usually hovering around the 3. But all was fine.
