I have attended the Cardiology Clinic at The Great Western Hospital, Swindon. I have been in persistant AF for at least 2 years and have had 2 Cardioversions after which I have reverted both times quickly to AF, I am told the referral for Ablation ( to Oxford or Bristol) will take months. I had no symptoms when diagnosed. I am now on biosoprolol (2.5mg) and flecainide (2x100mg). My symptoms now are such that I feel I am walking uphill all the time and I feel depressed at the thought of waiting such a long time for treatment.
Can anyone recommend an EP. I live i... - Atrial Fibrillati...
Can anyone recommend an EP. I live in Swindon.
Hi Suzanne, I'm with Edward Duncan at the Bristol Heart Institute, there is a long waiting list but the sooner your on it, the sooner you get there. I was originally on Bisoprolol 5mg but the consultant changed it to 1.25mg and 150mg flecainde with the option to take an extra 50mg if needed. I feel much better with less Bisoprolol, I still get breathless, but my energy has returned and I'm starting to put this condition in its place... It's in my life, but it's not all my life. It's been a hard lesson but I'm getting there. Good luck
Yes - get on the 45 minute train journey to Dr Wyn Davies at St. Mary's through choose and book on the NHS or if through private insurance or private funding at his private consulting rooms. By far the best physician for treating AF.
St. Mary's NHS hospital paddington W2 London.
Good luck
I've been very pleased with Dr Ernst at The Royal Brompton- I haven't had an ablation yet but will be making decision after seeing test results in June- she has said just to let her know when am ready
