Happy to hear that you got scheduled at last.

Is it only for AF or other irrethemia ?

From my two experiences ( even the latest one was so long and I was awake under sedation only ) the procedure is easier than what I expected , the recovery need more focus and time .

Wish you well and great result .

Regards

Thanks Maitha. I think I only have A.F. but who knows what they will find when they get in there! There is a 6 month waiting list so I must try not to wind myself up during that time. Good luck for yours on monday

Glad you've got your foot on this ladder, dedeottie, in view of the wait. I'm wishing I had not jogged along as I was, getting ever slightly worse for a couple of years before being referred to my EP - I'd have liked to be where I am now long before this.

Yes, don't get wound up too much about it - if there's something odd to be discovered, it's best to know about it, and the ablation itself (as we've said) is not a big hurdle. The things that might (but almost certainly won't) go wrong are the only scary thing. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. I've dropped another 50mg of flecainide now and am down to 50 x 2 a day - I think I told you I was on 150 x 2 before the ablation and still had bouts of AF.

great news dedeottie " i am at the early stages of af and live quite near to the cardiff hosptial i dont know how bad af as to be before you are considered for an ablation, at the moment i have an attack roughly one every two weeks lasting up to an hour which is scaring the life out of me. please keep us inform. hope all goes well for you

Most EPs believe that early intervention by ablation is the best approach so don't leave it too long.

I had a feeling you might have a Welsh connection, llamudos! Hope you will begin to relax about your AF as you get to know the pattern.

You might like to note what I have said to dedeottie, My problems were quite trivial when I had my first ablation so don't assume you are not a candidate. If is disrupting your life, why not see if your situation can be improved.

I agree with you. I too wish I had been more proactive earlier on but to be honest it wasn't till I found this forum that I even knew that it was an E.P. I needed to see. Thank God for this forum. X

Thank you. I saw Doctor Peter o Callaghan who said the would try me on 1 type of medication and if that didn't work he would suggest an ablation. My medication made the whole thing much better but I was getting some breakthrough events. He said it was the effect on your quality of life that he took into account. He also likes to do it before it becomes permanent.I will keep you informed.x

Thanks for that dedeottie. I live in Cardiff so will be very interested in how you get on - I'm also down to visit a cardiologist at University Hospital soon, so it'll be good to have a name to mention when I see them.
