Please inform your doctor about your medication and SVT for his consideration.

Apparently you should avoid local anaesthetics containing adrenaline. I was at the dentist a few weeks ago and she was quite happy to use the alternative local. You should also tell your dentist if you are on an anticoagulant.

I am on flecanide and need quite extensive dental surgery. I rang my E.P. for advice. He said it would be fine to use the normal anaesthetic. I hope he is right as I'm having in done on the 22nd April!

I am on Amiodarone too.Tell your doctor about this and if you are taking Warfarin. He will know what to give you via injection.

You could try asking your doctor, before you go... I heard that local anaesthetic with adrenalin in isn't good for AF but a doctor should know for sure about all your medication and condition.

The dentist will be well aware and I would inform them now as if you have to have any teeth out you may need to adjust your warfarin.

I have injections without adrenalin since a bad reaction ( before I was diagnosed with PAF) and they work fine for me, so if you are worried just ask for that.

The one I have to stay clear of, is the injection with Adrenalin as this make's my heart go into overdrive. Seemingly they put it in to slow down the bleeding.

I had extraction and dental work before xmas, as long as the Dentist knows what meds you are on, there should not be any problem. Dentists should know exactly how to deal with the isuue.

Synthetic adrenaline increases the heart rate for some of us to alarming speeds and until I knew I had AF, I experienced two very frightening emergency trips to A and E. With a little explanation now, my dentists always agree to using an alternative anaesthetic. Our hearts are already struggling to keep us steady, why throw in a firework?! Good luck with the tooth.

Thankyou so so much everyone, now I know why I joined this group. I have taken note of everything. and will inform him of all my medications. I am not on warfarin, but to be on the safe side will still ask for an anaesthetic without the Adrenalin, and see what he says. I won't be able to check with my GP she's not on over the weekend or monday. Will get back to you on this.. so glad your here and thanks again.

I have had four teeth out while I have been taking wayfaring. Told my Dentist I was on wayfaring, he wanted to see my yellow book to check I had been tested recently and to check I was in the correct range. I had my teeth taken out with no problems. Hope all goes well for you ☺
