I've been sailing along recently, happily in NSR and maintaining a decent BP and pulse rate of around 120/65 - 60 and this morning I woke up and fell all over the place with some seriously effective dizziness that wouldn't go away. Checked my BP and it was; and still is, in the region of 67/42 - 45. I didn't take my normal 5mg Bisoprolol this morning as I can't see the point of encouraging any further slowing down. What puzzles me is why the sudden drop? Any ideas, anyone?
Sudden drop in blood pressure. - Atrial Fibrillati...
Sudden drop in blood pressure.
Running report! At 1.35pm I felt a bit better, so took BP again and it had as suddenly, gone up to 138/65 - 48 which is around normal for me - except pulse rate which remains lowish at 45/48. Strange...........
I had a batch of that a couple of weeks ago and put it down to a virus. Lasted a couple of days.

Mine did that while I was in hospital. High as a kite one minute and plummeting to the depths the next. They took my BP every hour for days and it kept up the pattern.
After my angiogram they dropped me down to half my usual beta blocker dose and my EP told me to drink lots of water to keep hydrated and stablise BP.
Hope you soon get back on an even keel.

I think it must have been the Bisoprolol, as you mention- Be careful when you are getting up and perhaps have some water before you stand up- that was far too low and I would check with whoever prescribes the Bisoprolol and certainly miss doses if you find your BP is so low. How it stabilises again soon
My BP drops quite regularly to those sorts of levels and I asked my GP about taking Bisoprolol as I knew it controls high blood pressure and he told me that although it is beta blocker it also stabilizes BP and I have found that to be true, my BP on Bisoprolol is normally much higher, well for me anyway. Anything over 100/65 is high in my case.
That was very low though Dadog, not surprised you felt dizzy, I can't stand at all when it goes that low, I black out. I don't know why it drops suddenly, but I know for me it is often the precursor of a bad AF episode. The syncope lot have a good leaflet on small things you can do to raise your BP, like crouching on your haunches and "bearing down". Tried it a few times and it helps, but when it is that low I fall over!
Dadog, I started collapsing, happened 4 times, I honestly thought I was dying I felt so ill, I lost confidence in so many ways, was scared of driving ,looking after my little grandson. I was then fitted with a three lead pacemaker, can't believe the difference it has made. When pm was fitted was told it would not stop the AF which was very symptomatic but would stop me collapsing. Up to now, almost scared of saying it but it has .
I have been there, got the T Shirt, I was very unwell for four years, Hope you feel better very soon.

Beth
Thanks for all your replies. I am certainly feeling a bit better today and pulse rate has at last gone back up to 63bpm, No Bisoprolol again today but will see if things are stable tomorrow. Thanks again and stay well everyone.
